So when can we expect a proper trailer? I guess there is a common release period. how many months before theatrical movie start do companies (or Toei lol) start with marketing?
From what I have seen they show trailer about 6 months prior release. We have no release date though and this is Sailor Moon so I won't ve surprised if they don't go the usual route. They usually show art on papers soon after key visual reveal, but we still have no new artwork even.

So maybe around christmas? Maybe they will post official art on the website together with the trailer. I guess there's no other relevant date this year other then christmas. So it could be possible that Tadano is preparing other designs for the website I guess?

No they will uploadthe designs sheets she did a while ago if anything. I doubt they will do anything for Christmas specifically. My bet is February during the franchise birthday, around the time the new memberships for the fanclub come, they will reveal more art, trailer and release date for summer 2020...

Well. it is obvious she did, considering the films, both of them are coming out next year. They are the first thing a designer do, we have a key visual, so it has been a while.
But the other character art from the teaser is a bit sloppy and looks quickly drawn, also magnified. I don't get it why Toei releases this kind of material that looks like it was made over night instead of releasing proper and well made drawings.

The only reason for them to do that is because they had nothing else to give us, and they needed to give us something for Usagi’s bday because they had been quiet for like 2 years.

Character sheets are usually small and they wanted to present it in a video. They probably didn't want to show actual animation scenes until they have release date to tell us. Two movies cannot be done in an year. Tadano was hired a whole year ago, so the designs were approved around that time.

Yeah, there is quite a difference in quality between the key visual (flawless) and the character sheets from the trailer (looks a bit like fan-art)

I think it simply has to do with resolution. :) Still cannot wait for more artwork though. I cannot believe nothing has been published in 2 months... I was expecting some articles or at least outers and Mamoru. Hope she fixed the seadon 3 strange heads of most guys and Haruka.

Yeah it`s really strange that there is no media coverage. It's like Toei doesn't really want to promote the project. Bt maybe it's too early and we are unpatient, but it's hard to be a Sailor Moon fan. I'm sure they will launch the first movie during the olympic games because Sailor Moon is also one of the official ambassadors. The international attention might have been also a reason for the strategic choice to let Kazuko Tadano make the character design. I bet the Classic Sailor Moon, Tadano's, is the most recognized one, even among non-anime fans and nobody really cared about the Crystal Sailor Moon.

It might be the case though I doubt a film would premier around this time. With Olympics going on it makes no sense as the foccus will be mainly on them. I have a feeling the release will be autumn and winter 2020.if theywere aiming at spring the trailer should have been released by now. Summer with the Olympics is a bad time slot for a film, so it is only possible if they itentinally want to kill it.

If that's the case where they don't want to promote it, I'll be even more disgusted with Toei and lose even more respect for them; to quote Phil Vischer, I feel Sailor Moon and the Sailor Soldiers, once being a proud part of Toei Animation, are nowadays destined to become unloved stepchildren at Toei Animation, picking up whatever table scraps were left after the “true children” (Pretty Cure) had eaten their fill, and be honest, even when there was a huge sale of merchandise and such based on the original anime and such from like 4-5 years ago, Pretty Cure still got the lion share of the attention.

Well Toei are like Lady Tremaine, cherishing their own daughters, abusing with strange kidness, yet belittling the foster kid. They might still do a lot of promotion, but it is probably too early. I hope it won't be the Season 1-2 case of multiple delays and troubled production.

Agreed on that. I hope it doesn't end up that way too, otherwise that's going to be a series of red flags.

Did they say both parts will be released in 2020? I have a feeling they will release Part 1 in December of 2020, and probably release the second part in 2021 or 2022

So far they confirmed both parts to be released in 2020. Which means they are working on both of them probably concurrently. Of course they might have a few months between thetwo but so far both are to be released next year. I do not know how they are going to do it though. Based on Toei schedule they usually release teaser aboit 3-4 months before actual trailer, and a trailer about 6 months before the actual release. If we take this as a base, we got the teaser in Jue 30th, so we should expect a trailer in October, November and the first film in late spring of 2020. Of course this is just speculation based on other filmsthey have released.

That's worst case scenario. Worst worst case scenario would be: Delayed until 2023. lol

That's a realistic scenario imho. But I'm not sure if that video we got was a teaser. I mean, it was more of a slideshow.

Dunno if this is official, but a first (mediocre/basic) Toei teaser for an anime looks like this:
