yeah, my hopes aren't too high but I'm optimistic at times. I like to hope for the best. In any case, despite the flack it's been getting, I'm actually still excited to see it next year (whenever we get to see it). Aside from all the animation shout-outs, I'd really like to see how they adapted the story this time around and how they structure everything.

Sorry to keep posting redraws, but I think this one is interesting because Sailor Crisis didn't add to many of her own unique details but this is still a huge improvement. It's clear that the biggest issue is that the line work we're seeing in the animation is way too thin. Considering the designs are simpler and the colors are even more washed out and pastel-y than before, what ends up happening is that the characters end up looking like amorphous blobs. I don't understand why this has become a new problem, when even in S3 the linework was pretty THICK.

I wouldn't figure on a touch up. Most likely the budget has been used already. If we do get one then sweet, but totally not expecting it at all.
And yeah a couple of frames in comparison to a whole movie isn't really fair to be honest, of course they can go all out when they're just drawing a couple random things.

It's pretty common to find *amazing* fanart for something, with much higher quality art than in a show, but again it's a random still they're going all out on, they're not animating with all that extra detail and on a time crunch to boot. More detail = less fluid movement unless they have an insane budget and a less strict deadline
Adding some extra detail shouldn't be an issue in a normal situation though. I think people on here see simple anime designs as cutting corners when it reality it should allow animators and animation directors to add their own stamp on the animation because it's less restrictive. Which is what's upsetting about Eternal, the designs have the right balance that it should allow the animators to deliver good work.

One thing I should clarify. The animation issue is probably not a budget one at all, but most likely there has been scheduling problems that is causing the animation for Eternal to be rushed out. I think some of us hoped that Studio Deen's involvement meant that their animators would be working in tandem with Toei to help deliver a solid production... It's clear it's probably just Deen animating the majority of it with a select few Toei animators assisting or delivering key scenes.

i like better the redraw than the actual movie one, and in some posters it looks details but in the actual animation look well like we saw ah i wanted more detailed like season 1 and 2 maybe a little simple because of how toei have handle the franchise so it have to look in point

My bigesst issue seeing the redrawings is just how white the two look. They look pale, paper white.
The colours are totally washed out and the lack of shadowing and lightning is jarring.
Yeah. It almost looks like someone took the footage and added too much exposure or bloom. Even the header image in this forum. While looking better than the footage we saw from transformation teaser, still is way too bright which obscures a lot of the detail. You have to basically squint to even see that they didn't forget to draw the noses. It's just not a smart creative choice.

It is too bright. I have 65 inches oled tv and tried to watch it on it. The tv is designed to give perfect blacks, real colors and is doing wonders with every film i tried. When i tried to watch the transformation, you cannot see half of it. How can you make a film, that is suplosed to be seen on modern screen and make it so bright... I hope these are not finished at least on that level and they adjust the brightness and exposureat least.

I think I can agree with others in the thread. The redraw most certainly looks better than the official. I may I thought I was overthinking when I posted on a YouTube version that the Crisis transformation looks too bright. The Sailor Crisis person adds the right amount of shading.

Also, I'm sure others have noticed the background during the Senshi battle cries. There is none and when I first saw it when the Inners were doing their attacks I was hoping they just haven't added the backgrounds in yet. Hopefully, they will. It looks weird against a black background and that's the first thing that takes you out of the transformation.

In any case, can we get someone from Toei to at least consider some things from Sailor Crisis's redraw? Lol

Personal minor gripe, I was listening to the transformation with stereo headphones and the sound effects need a little more bump.

This is in my opinion the best redraw we saw so far and even achievable, since season 1+2 had similar details. I also don't like how bright and pastel the colors are. This new design looks better with saturated colors:

The audio is compressed on youtube as well. The picture is quite compressed as well.

they need to continue the storyline with her cloned niece
They will totally remove these... I cannot believe this soap is so popular, that we talk about it even on here. Anyway Rubi was a hard core version of Raye (was it how you spell the DiC version)? I want a handsome rich boyfriend and I am totally gonna screw the stupid Usagi that just gots everything I want.

Can we have a separate Rubi thread? I love Rubi.

(1) Rubi originally appeared in a comic book published in the 1960s. The comic was written by Yolanda Vargas Dulché. You can download and read the comic online.
(2) The original Rubi was Mexican actress Fanny Cano (1968, original telenovela).
(3) There was also a Rubi movie that came out in the 1970s with actress Irán Eori as Rubi.
(4) The 2004 remake is the one with Barbara Mori.
(5) A new remake came out this year and I can’t wait to watch it. Rubi goes as far as seducing the Prince of Spain and attempting to get him out of the country to go live in Mexico.
(6) Rubi was loosely inspired by the telenovela “Teresa,” not the current one with Angelique Boyer, but the original one that aired... in 1959.

Done, hope some mode moves Rubi related stuff to the thread.
