It's going to be hot for a physical outing. Unless a publisher agrees to pay dearly for a Netflix dub. Netflix can largely play the acquisition card over several years before a third-party publisher publishes the series.

Moral of the story: Toei sold the rights because the global rights were certainly not to live up to their hopes.
Because let's be honest, Netflix certainly put the millions to get this juicy contract where a publisher would certainly not have followed.
Exactly. Given the current state of things, this was the most profitable option. It’s also the best way to get Sailor Moon more exposure in households again than dropping it on blu / in limited theaters.

If the movie (and its dub) are good, I'll buy the Blu-ray when it comes out at a reasonable price.
If there's a Blu-ray at all...no guarantees with Netflix involved that it'll happen outside of Japan.

Well, I said Toei is involved with the localizations because they've given guidelines about voices to Netflix/VSI in the case of the Brazilian dub.
So, it's really unlikely they are letting go of a cast they approved 6 years ago for their biggest overseas market, in movies that are actually meant to be sequels to the product it was originally hired to work on...
Chris Niosi's most likely out so they'll need to find a new Pegasus.

Barbara Goodson will be interesting because if she's back, will she keep the alias?

I think “Astro Girl” was just an alias to keep the project under wraps. Studios do it all the time and it wont be an edited version given how strict Toei has been with the releases this far.
Yeah, it's just a codename. When Fox located places for Titanic film shootings, they were calling the project "planet of ice".
But the person who registered the Eternal data apparently screwed up putting the actual name between parenthesis.

So on January 2 I will be able to find Sailor Moon under anime on Netflix?

If Netflix is going to stream the movie, I bet it will also stream Crystal and the 90’s anime.

There still hasn’t been any announcement. So we don’t know if it’s the same day as the Japanese release.

Crystal and the 90s is still on Hulu. They’d probably have to wait for those streaming rights to lapse.

It might be a month of a wait, but at least it won't be 6 months or more because anime movies takes forever. We still have no idea when Heaven's Feel III will be released.

Netflix has always been my favorite streaming service. It costs $13.99, but I get tons of shows I like (all existing seasons of “American Horror Story,” for example).

Surprisingly, Netflix is streaming Cardcaptor Sakura Clear Card right now.

If I lived in the US I could have bought Netflix for sure, but... Living in Eastern Europ 80 % of the shows are locked for us. Sure with good VPN service it will be no problem, but if u pay subscription for both will be a bit too much.

I hope is a simultaneous release as normally Netflix takes a while to release the dubbed version of anime (like Kakegurui it took some time after it finished being broadcasted to dub it and release it.)

However, I’m have the feeling it will be a simultaneous release!!

Well, even anime co-produced by Netflix usually air on Japanese TV a little while before they get streamed worldwide.
Even if we have to wait a bit, it won't be long.

Are any of the actors in the Viz dub non-union? If so, they'd have to be recast. I hope that even if there aren't any major recasts that at least the new studio has better directors than Studiopolis.
I have seen lots of actors from the Viz cast in foreign Netflix originals dubbed into English, especially Spanish productions, like Elite and Money Heist, because most of their dubs are done at VSI LA. Carrie Keranen, Johnny Yong Bosch, Amanda Miller and Cherami Leigh are examples that come to my mind. Carrie happened to direct the redub of Evangelion there.
But keep in mind that it's just two movies, not a season of 40 episodes with lots of characters. There will be a lot more room for quality work.
