I am worried they might do a group one as well. It makes sense as they share a chapter but it will be so unfair. On the other hand a nice group transformation might still look cool.
I wouldn’t mind a group transformation if it was totally new that could be really cool.

On the subject of a live action adaptation, I think I can be dont beautiful and subtlety if the right director is on board. It doesn’t even have to have a massive budget it the team is right the film can be spectacular.

Mainstream Japanese film, is not at all what it was back in the 50’s to 80’s. We need fresh blood. I think that regardless of how they look they are Japanese and the story is Japanese there are a million superhero of all other roaches but an entire team of Asian woman except mabye Pluto would be groundbreaking.

Also with a great hair and makeup team som nuance the will look fantastic not everything need to be westernised and cheapend.

Also camp is always in vogue! The met gala had an entire exhibition on camp. Scott , moschino, dg etc. Camp camp camp camp.

PGSM failed in Japan —in my opinion, personal opinion— because it took itself seriously. TOEI should have made a Sailor V tokusatsu with fun episodes like those from Poitrine.
I stand by my words. “Sailor Moon” and the Dark Kingdom arc are too complex and have too much depth and tragedy to be adapted as a tokusatsu show. PGSM doesn’t feel organic. It works exceptionally well as an anime, yes.

TOEI should have made a Sailor V comedy with the same elements that made Poitrine a hit in Japan in the late-80s. Minako is the queen of comedy and I believe the idea would have worked exceptionally well. Especially considering the coincidences between the first volume of the V manga and Poitrine.

Well I am maybe the only one here in this thread but I loved PGSM... again only “rumors” claiming that the show was a flop. It went through 51 episodes + a movie this is exactly what are sentai show about every year in Japan.

I don’t think it was ever planned to be more than that. The serie closed perfectly and has a nice run!

How could be anyway a show of this kind ultra successful... it was airing at 07:30 in the morning. It was not a prime time series like Sailor Moon classic was. Plus with Japanese actors it was clear that it will never be for international audience. I much as I love Japanese movies, actors, music into in their culture THEY DON’T like to be “out”internationally... look even here we have basically ZERO Japanese fans (I know English but comon!)

I think most of the storyline in PGSM were great. The acting was great, the music was great... and the rest well CGI effects were not worst than Power Rangers for sure or the first seasons of Buffy...

Maybe I am wrong, but my impression and what I remember reading here —if my memory does not fail— is that PGSM merchandise did not sell.

In the end they looked still better than the Season 3 transformations in my opinion.
I’m also totally on your side. I don’t get the hate. They look so much better than the ugly transformations of season 3... Venus, Jupiter, Mars, Mercury what a nightmare. But I loved Chibimoon transformations and Moon Crisis is also amazing.

by the way did you ever hear about why “Crisis make up” become “Moon Crisis make up”? Any idea ?

Well to be honest I got the moon stick and the broach but the rest to my taste were ugly (the Harp OMG)

Maybe they changed "Crisis Make up" to "Moon Crisis Make up" because that's the phrase in the Dream Arc and it would be confusing when Usagi and Chibiusa suddenly call a new phrase out of nowhere (like in the manga).

I thought the harp was neat. It was certainly better than the tambourines and bracelets the other girls got.
(Anyone else ever think PGSM feels like a prototype of Precure in retrospect? A lot of similar items appear in it.)

Some of the other ones were great, too, like all the variants of Mercury's sword. Giving Jupiter a spear was pretty dope as well. Really highlighted Mako's strength + element.

I would pay a lot for Another Story remake or a new rpg in similar vein based on Crysternal or the 90s anime
You‘re not alone with that. Such a game would finally bring some original approach on the already existing material and probably every sailor moon fan out there would want to play it.

I wouldn’t even say Naoko has to write a new manga (though I would love that) She clearly gave the OK to PGSM even though it deviates from her original plot. She also got her wish of a faithful anime adaptation, too. I don’t see why she couldn’t oversee a new project, even if it was just a basic draft and a few character design sheets for them to work with.

Not trying to attack Naoko here as it is her right to do as she pleases. It’s just funny that she has time to write the lyrics to many of Crystal’s OP and ED songs and yet can’t find the time to draw a few bits and pieces..I thought she might at least draw a new piece for her magazine interview but nope..
She did create new covers for the re-release of the manga, “Perfect” edition and the new colorized one. She also did write new songs, yeah. She likes writing songs. Doing those things, though, is not as challenging as creating a new story from scratch—a story whose chapter she closed many years ago. I think Stars had such a perfect ending. And what else could there be to tell? Aliens invading earth again?

I would love a new Sailor Moon and I have played all the fan made ones. In fact I am eager for more and I am sad a lot of projects got abandoned. Sadly Japan is still a closeted country and they look at their market first. I guess they feel Japanese gamers don't care, and the fact the mobile game got closed stop them. I am sure a good game will be a huge hit in the West. But Japan is, I dare to say sexist country. They assume Sailor Moon is female oriented and females don't play games, unless they are otome games...
