They are so freaking cute, they would sell tons of merchandise with that design lol.
The eyes have so much light and life. Just love it.
And this design has its own problem. Well, it's just my opinion.
I don't like the wrist in Tadano's style. It seems the characters can't move their hands freely.
And about their feet and their shoes, I feel they lack something...
And in this character design sheet, I think Uranus' hair is not well balanced.

Not you talking about "moving" and "balance" while being a fan of Ss1,2 style. Characters look like they can break their bones any time in that Yukie Sakou style, let alone moving. And the hair was so huge that their heads looked like alien's heads

Sailor Stars Starlights Arc was adapted from a previous draft storyline of the Manga which diverges on act 52(which had a different backstory for Galaxia from the Anime and Manga - the one in Materials Collection), not the actual manga storyline in the Stars, so what would be adapted is new material (or rather the actual manga plot) in Sailor Moon Crystal V which has nothing in common with the 90s anime.

Did I say anything about S1 - S2? Did I even praise the animation of S1 - S2? :)
(Can you tell the difference between character design and animation?)
My complaint about SME character design is invalid just because I'm a fan of Sakou? Interesting point of view. :)
It seems you just wait to start an argument with me. But I don't care. Bye!

I really like those pics! I think one of them is after Saturn protects Chibimoon with Silent Wall.

Also, I found this twitt with cards with Pluto and Saturn's transformation pose, and I love them.

The low saturation of the character models makes them look so lost, especially Pluto. I hate the washed out color concept of Crystal.

This is very childish. The person a opinion still stands rather they were fans of the earlier designs.

I have a feeling, there will be other touch ups and fixes for Blu Ray and not only the Uranus planet background, so maybe this wait is a good thing as we are going to see the ultimate version. While not perfect by any means for s 1 and 2 it changed the experience quite a bit. Sadly we won't have much to compare. Maybe they will change that background and call it a day, but usually once they start revising they tend to find more to be fixed. It depends on the team and probably the expected sales.

Oh, Takahashi... Thank god you were not to stay. Looking at these alone I still love Sakou best. Kill me with stones.

imo season 3 had the best character designs/art style. It looked "fresh" and upgraded. I gave me a weird feeling like I was watching SM for the first time ever like it was from an alternate universe, one where the 90s version didn't exist and it was true to the manga. It felt current and relevant. Feel like it's the season most non-fans would gravitate too, especially the younger z generation who's new to SM.

Season 1 was the worst. Their eyes looked alien-like big and they came off very uncanny.

Season 3 isn't bad by any means, I like it. It's cute but it's also TOO cute imo. They look way too childlike with their body proportions, their eyes aren't as emphasized as they usually are, and lines are too thin. But it works and does the job. At the same time I wasn't wowed by any means tbh. Feels like it got "muted" a bit but muted enough to strike a balance between every art style SM has ever had. A majority of fans seem to really like it and that's a good sign to me.

I hate Akira design with a passion. But for each their own. Tadano is balanced, and the ugly aspects of s 3 are gladly gone - these mouths...
