Children do cost quite a bit to raise. I guess maybe Usagi and co. could stick the disguise pen in her hand, have her say things like School uniform, undress her but keep the clothes, and repeat until they have enough, and they did treat her to things like ice cream on enough instances, but you need more food than that. At least some bags of cat food, cat litter, and sleeping with Minako or Usagi isn´t too bad for Artemis and Luna, Usagi and Minako might even have enough money in their own right to pay for it themselves (although probably not pet insurance).

I guess the hypnosis Chibiusa used on the Tsukinos made them more than happy to dole out a few hundred thousand yen. I´m thinking that one of them came back with some of Neo-Queen Serenity´s jewels she gave to be sold off or Ami and Chibiusa hypnotized some bureaucrat to issue a tax credit to Kenji and Ikkuko.

Counterpoint: There is no evidence that the Tsukinos had any sort of money woes and may have had extra cash on hand for emergencies. When you consider the size of the Tsukino house, while they're not loaded or rich, based on their living conditions they're upper-middle class. After all, they might have been squirreling money away in case of the arrival of another mouth to feed.

Would be funny if a gag panel was drawn by someone who speculated on this, Usagi giving her parents some money to pay back that cost for a bit, at least just as a thanks gift in hindsight.

I guess you are right that they may have some money stocked for a third mouth. Not that unlikely for her parents to become pregnant a third time, they´re still young (Usagi being 14, her mother looking rather on the younger side for mothers, maybe 35 which is just about how old my mother was when she was pregnant for the fourth time?). Well, not Kenji of course.

The same question could be asked for Chibi Chibi too. :chibichibi:
If anything that´s much worse given that daycare is usually not provided by the state as public education is and ergo where Chibiusa was for most of the day she wasn´t sleeping or with her father or with her mother and her friends. At least Chibi-Chibi doesn´t seem to be growing a centimetre or two per month so clothes can remain the same.

I have realized as an adult that it seems none of the girls have financial issues. Usagi has a big house in a trendy suburb of Tokyo. I have to assume that it didn’t strain them too much. I don’t think you can own a home of their size in Japan without having moderate exponential wealth. The Tsukinos are above ‘comfortable’ . Tiny rented apartments are astronomical in Japan as it is. Chibiusa knows what’s good.
Can we ask Makoto- Chan who is footing her bills? Is she a secret heiress?

And they all live in Juuban, it's in the MinatoKu area, which is one of the most expensive in Tokyo.

Makoto's parents died in a plane crash. Although tragic, she probably had a lot of money from the compensation settlement with the airline and/or with their life insurance. And I think it's likely that she has relatives, as social care workers are nowhere in sight.

Minako’s mother is mean to her husband in the Sailor V manga and tells Minako to study to not end up like him… “a failure.”

Usagi would be entitled to inherit everything in the ruins of Silver Millennium, so she could scour the surface to see what could be made. Not our currency but things she might need.

I've always wondered if he has actually an average income or if she thought she was going to marry rich.

Takeuchi used to be like Naru, I guess? As her parents used to be jewellery shop owner.
Now I think of it, none of the Senshi has to struggle economically - as mentioned above:

Yah in the manga she gets a monthly allowance .Ami mom is doctor
Minaka and Usagi are from the suburbs
Rei goes to a private school and her dad is a politician
There not struggling.

And for the rest of the Senshi:

Mako could've inherited a large sum of wealth from her parents.
Chibiusa's present family is the same as Usagi's, whereas her future one is a royal one.
Haruka's & Michiru's wealth is evidenced by their lifestyles, even tho we dunno their source of income.
I can't envision Setsuna having any economic difficulties, considering that she, as the mistress of time, could easily amass huge wealth in various ways.
Hotaru is the daughter of a professor.

:haruka: is a famous Racecar/Motocross Driver and :mihiru: is an allegedly popular Violinist (and also a gifted Painter, THX Chicchi 4 reminding me ;)) with a possible Stardom akin to the Three Lights, so Money itself shouldn't be the problem. Same goes to Kenji Tsukino as a Journalist/professional Photographer. But that are just my $0.02.

I wonder if Motoki is based on someone real because the Amusement Arcade existed in Real Life, too.
The Emphasis is on 'existed' because it had to make way for a McDonald's of all things. SACRILEGIOUS! :x

Naoko Takeuchi worked at a Shinto shrine. I believe it’s the same shrine where Rei lives as a priestess—because the Hikawa shrine actually exists in real life.

The pronunciation of the name of the real-world one is the same, but the kanji for "Hi" is different, & its meaning ("ice") is also quite the opposite. lol

I wish I spoke an Asian language. :O

I just know that 中国 means China and I know that 九谷 means Kutani because I collect Japanese Kutani pottery.

I also can say hi! Nī Hāo.
