Wow that is actually pretty cool I thought the Stars musical was going to be the last one so it is cool that they are doing another.

This post should be renamed or another post created to reflect that there is some sort of Nogizaka 46 Collaboration musical and the "Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Super Live" as well.

Not just the musical but 3 x separate events

As a fan of Seramyu, I'm not sure what to think of this news. On the one hand, I'm glad to see the musicals continuing and I will be curious to see what new stories they'll do for the next musical. It will have to be an original story since the musicals already finished adapting all of the manga, and this will be some of the first new Seramyu content we'll have not based on existing manga content in decades. On the other hand, it's not going to be the same without the original cast who were as perfect as could be, especially the Outer Guardians. I was already just getting used to the second cast for the Inner Guardians. I really hope they will have professional musical actresses in the 2019 stage show and not J-idol singers which feels like it would be a rather cheap downgrade for the Seramyu shows to me. But I'm just not sure how I'm going to handle a Seramyu show without Yuuga Yamato as Tuxedo Mask as she was perfect in the part. I'm also confused if the stage show with the idol group will be an actual musical with a full plot or will it be just a show with singing and dancing like the Anime Matsuri event and the real musical is in 2019?

My current guess would be a rehash in somewah of existing content to fit Nogizaki 46

Maybe Petite Etranger.

The question is which from the group will appear - A grade or B grade members - I think Nogizaka 46 are better singers than AKB and better production values but then again they're not Takarazuka - who are obviously the pinnacle of Musical Theatre production in Japan.

It's not exactly a new thing - other idols have appeared in musicals but can't think of examples right now.

As long as they're not in the full proper musical in 2019 I can handle it, but the Sailor Moon musicals aren't going to be the same without the original Outers or Yuuga Yamato as Tuxedo Mask. I just worry Seramyu is going to become overly commercialized and will be overrun by idols instead of professional musical actresses.

I'm so excited that the musicals are continuing!!!!!

Can't wait to see what the new story will be and who will make up the new cast. I hope they bring back male actors to play the male parts again. The all-female cast was a cool novelty for the past five musicals, but I kind of feel like it's run its course. Besides, while Yuuga was fine in "La Reconquista," her acting got progressively worse/more lazy with each subsequent musical in my opinion, and she was just too old for the part. Satomi and Hotaru are/were teenagers, right? And Yuuga just turned forty. The age difference was always very...yikes to me. I'd like Mamoru and Usagi to be played by actors who are around the same age.

The idol group show sounds...interesting. :P Wonder if it will be a proper musical or just a pseudo-concert thing? Either way, I'm hoping for lavish set pieces.

"The Super Live" show will apparently be performed around the world and is being designed by Takahiro, a famous choreographer who has worked with Madonna in the past. Very intrigued by this and I hope the show will be at least performed in Boston so I can see it.

At least it's not Momoiro Clover Z. :P Nogizaka46 is huge these days & even look like they're on the road to overtake AKB48 (both groups actually belong to the same company, tho P-: ), so their participation can help promote the franchise nationwide, especially to the newer generations. :)

This is purely a guess but I'm thinking that they are taking Musical Production completely in-house.

For the last 5 years Musical production has been done by Nelke Planning HOWEVER in December I received a Suspension of Service for the "Officlal Newsletter" which was run by Nelke.

This leads me to think Nelke has parted ways with the central "group" that directs Sailor Moon either voluntarily or forced?. Maybe it was a 5 year fixed term contract?.

What is also interesting is up untill now King Records has been heavily involved - they published the Crystal DVD's, they are Momoir Clover's record label and they published the Musical DVD's - so everything has all been tied to them - even the fanclub shop is run by them - YET Nogizaka 46's record label is Sony Records.

In Japan when 1 recod label is so heavily involved they would NOT let a group from a rival record company get involved - its obvious why Momoir Clover were involved with Crystal - same record company

Another interesting data point is that
a) there has been no announcement of any new blu-rays past the Movies
b) No Crystal Movie news

This is maybe a leap by me but MAYBE King Records involvement with Sailor Moon is at an end? Maybe there is a new player lined up for the new financial year / new version of the fan club ?

To that end maybe they are letting currently announced products run out before starting a new relationship with a new record company / production company? - Maybe this is why we have never seen Miyuki musicals on DVD because the tie up with King Records has prevente it ?

Another interesting point is that Akiko Kosaka was at the classical concert - maybe Bandai are geting involved again?!?. Maybe we are going back to Akiko Kosaka led Musicals ?!?

I have never been very fond of some of King Records choices

- 13 volumes at 8,0000 yen for the R2's of Crystal Season 1
- No Blu-Ray releases of the musicals
- No Musical Albums till this year
- Their decision to release 2 x CD's Type A / Type B with 2 different stores of La Mouvement Finale audio tracks

All of this is very much an educated guess but a "full musical" in 2019 suggests they need time to get a new production committee up to speed / recruit production staff / actresses etc ?

^ Your guess makes sense, but then why don't they also replace Toei? :P (Maybe they were doing that, hence the lack of news on the S4 movie for so long? :googly: )

It should also be noted that Evil Line/King Records are also distributors for the Crystal soundtracks, the OP/ED singles and the 20th anniversary tribute album meanwhile the 90s soundtracks got re-released during Crystal's ONA run by the previous record company.

To answer A, King Records never had anything to do with the 90s Blu-ray box sets, that was all Toei Video.

It wouldn't be the first time they stalled on Sailor Moon releases since it also happened during the R2 DVD run (see the 2 year long gap between seasons 1 & R) plus we never heard anything about a HD remastered broadcast for S-Stars so I wonder if they even got to upscaling those seasons?

To that end maybe they are letting currently announced products run out before starting a new relationship with a new record company / production company? - Maybe this is why we have never seen Miyuki musicals on DVD because the tie up with King Records has prevente it ?
Why would they prevent musicals from over 15 years ago from getting released on DVD when they had nothing to do with them even back then? The older musicals had always been Bandai to the end weren't they, including those four?

Another interesting point is that Akiko Kosaka was at the classical concert - maybe Bandai are geting involved again?!?. Maybe we are going back to Akiko Kosaka led Musicals ?!?
She was also involved with two of Crystal's songs, Gekkou & and that awful Rei/Minako song from the character song album...

The 13 volume decision was probably because of the bi-weekly ONA schedule since the same thing happened with Saint Seiya: Soul of Gold, released by Bandai Visual, where all 13 episodes were on 6 volumes which also included soundtrack CDs.

They're not the only company guilty of doing this since the same happens with some TV anime released by other companies in Japan as well.

It should also be pointed out that anime musicals almost never get Blu Ray releases in Japan. The new Digimon Adventure Tri stage play is also only available on DVD.

Well they have SOME involvement as the Fanclub shop in Japan which is run by King Records has been selling the Blu-ray box sets with original extras specific to the Fanclub - money will have chnaged hands / contracts will exist in some form.

Much the same as how we believe Naoko may/may not have had a hand in stopping the old dub from being released maybe it was decided to keep the focus on the new musicals and prevent focus being lost.

Did you not notce how the live action was originally a menu item on the website but quietly went missing?. The live action has never had a proper page on the web site and this was marketed by Bandai as far as the DVD's go.

Bandai could not release anything without Naoko / licensors permission - makes me think things were none too cosy with Bandai....

The claim that Sailor Moon's contract with King Records is expiring and this is somehow having an effect on the production of the Myus or the anime seems to be only speculation at this point and we should be careful to take speculation as substantial fact.

Well we can definitely say that something has happened as far as Nelke Planning is concerned.

I wouldn't have got a "Final Newsletter" saying they won't send any more and all the data was being purged for no reason. - See the text highlighted below. Also note that the contact e-mail address is a nelke.jp

That newsletter has been running since the musicals started and they wouldn't be purging that just for kicks - Nelke I think is definitely out of the game. (For those that don't know Nelke is a musical production company that produce lots of stage musicals )

I work in web marketing (well a related field) - you don't torch a e-mail subscriber list unless you've got a very good reason it's one of your most valuable resources.

If Nelke Planning was continuing to be involved why would they torch their list ?. (One of the pieces of text I highlighted says quite clear that all personal data will erased)

To me it suggests they are no longer involved so they have been obliged by the powers that be to torch the list.

So the new musicals might now be produced by AKS, the management company of both Nogizaka46 & AKB48, as well as all their sister groups around the country & overseas (except for SNH48 & their sister groups, which've become totally independent since 2016). :googly:
