Sometimes when I'm reading the manga or watching the anime or whatever, I find myself wondering about something that wouldn't quite be on-topic in any of the existing threads, but that also doesn't really merit a thread of its own, so I thought I'd start a thread where we could all discuss the random, minor questions that pop into our heads concerning this franchise.

It still would have been interesting to see. Besides, Chibiusa got a ton of focus and was still given four side stories, and Minako had her own spin-off (er, prequel series?) but still got (to share) an Exam Battle Chapter. And it's not like Naoko would ever shy away from giving Usagi more spotlight

Some argue that Toei is responsible for almost everything that is wrong with Sailor Moon. So most probably they are the ones to be blamed for not letting Naoko to make Usagi's Exam Battle, too.

Another random question: In the Sailor V manga, why is Ace's gender given as unknown?

It seems pretty obvious that he's a guy, and no one ever expresses any uncertainty as to that, so why say his gender is unknown? I get that this was probably done just so all the answers in his profile would be "Unknown," thus making him super-mysterious, but it just comes off as strange and careless since "gender" could have easily been omitted. This just opens up the possibility that Ace is actually a woman (or, I suppose, nonbinary).

• If Prince Demand had managed to touch the two Silver Crystals together, thus destroying the world, would Sailor Saturn have been awakened?
• Though they're not technically Sailor Crystals, I wonder what would have happened had Sailor Galaxia gotten her hands on the Black Crystal and the Taioron Crystal. With those extra boosts of power, would she have been able to defeat Sailor Moon?
• Is Chibiusa's Umino-lookalike classmate Sorano supposed to be Minako's friend Hikaru's brother? Or does he just happen to share the same [last] name?

Another random question: In the Sailor V manga, why is Ace's gender given as unknown?

He may have presented himself as male but he could have been a cross-dressing woman. In the Sailor Moon universe, that's pretty common. Since they didn't have a chance to verify his sex, they listed his gender as "unknown" just to be safe.

Came across a comment from a Japanese fan theorizing that since Wiseman had the power to manipulate space-time, he must have absorbed Chronos, and that the Black Moon arc was building up to a showdown between him and Pluto in a parallel to Usagi vs Chibiusa/Black Lady as part of the arc's theme of parent-child conflict, and.......I'm just really disappointed now that that's not how that arc played out.

I've always thought that entire plot point nonsensical, and I like to imagine that if he had touched the Silver Crystals, it would have absolutely no effect, and everyone would have gotten worked up over nothing.

In reading up on the mythological Four Heavenly Kings on Wikipedia this morning, I noticed this detail:

They have a five-hundred-year lifespan, of which each day is equivalent to 50 years in our world; thus their total lifespan amounts to about nine million years

This made me think: What if the Silver Millennium resident lifespan of "1,000 years" is calculated in this way, meaning they actually live over 18 million years?

^ She'd still only be 900 in regular human/Earth years. This new calculation simply means that she still has a long life ahead of her, rather than her having spent 90% of her lifespan as a toddler.

Since Usagi found out she was Sailor Moon after meeting a talking cat named Luna, in the canon of the '90s anime, do you suppose Nyanko found out she was Sailor Mau after meeting a talking rabbit named Bastet?

Is "Black Moon" a pun on / allusion to the burakumin? Doesn't feel like the similarity is purely coincidental given the circumstances.

I’ll give this one a shot!

the black Crystal seemed to absorb energy to me, or to corrupt it, so I don’t feel that it’d be too powerful or able to be used in the way that Galaxia could draw from it. The Taioron Crystal was also weakening in power and seemed on its last legs, so I’d say that neither item would give Galaxia a boost in power.
