Apparently he just admitted that he was was physically abusing one of her 30 years younger fan (beating and raping her many times and forcing her to abord as well)…

Seiyuu playing a knight on one side and being a real monster on the other… sad…

he was also famous to be the first voice of Seiya in St Seiya before being fired for the last 18 Hades episodes

Disgusting. Where did you read he raped her? He only admitted he did beat and cause her an abortion in that letter.
well maybe rape is a strong word ? But I’m not sure how we should qualify that “The moment I stepped into the room, he pushed me onto the bed with a force I hadn’t expected. There was no buildup, no romance. It was so abrupt. As he grew more aroused, he tried to enter me without protection. I pleaded, ‘Wait, please,’ but he brushed it off, saying, ‘It’s okay, it’s okay,'” she recounts.”.

Sexually assaulted is maybe more appropriate? In Europe forcing someone to have sex without condom can be also categorized as a rape… not sure in Japan…

I already checked out the news piece, and it feels "rape" enough to me.

Didn’t he participate at one of the firsts Crystal announcement shows too ? Or was it just Kotono?

He did. Which is why people were confused when he wasn't recast alongside her.

I'm glad to see that Momocon nixed his appearance. I can only hope the industry in Japan follows suit. He's getting on in years anyway, kick him to the curb.

Oh geez, this is horrible. Now I'm more reluctant to go back to the JP version of the 90s anime again, now knowing this.
Time. It just takes time. People still listen and love Michael Jackson but the stuff associated with him is arguably worse than this.

We can condemn the person but still (eventually) enjoy their work. Toru Furya was an actor bringing a character to life but that doesn't mean he and his characters are one and the same.

We can like Mamoru, including how he sounds, whilst rightly hating the person who gave him that voice.

But probably no one, not Moonies, nor fans of Dragon Ball, One Piece, Gundam, Saint Seiya, etc, is going to be in that headspace today is all.

To keep it simple, a magazine earlier in the week reported about a scandal involving Toru Furuya, who is the Japanese voice actor for Freyr (among other characters from other franchises), and Furuya released a statement about it a little over an hour ago from my writing of this post.

The scandal, which will be spoiler-tagged for its content, revolves around Furuya partaking in an affair with a fan, getting her pregnant, forcing her to get an abortion, and abusing her throughout the relationship . The magazine reported this first, and then Furuya's statement confirmed that it was all true.

Needless to say, Freyr may not receive anything in FEH for a while, unless he's recast, since a scandal like this will most likely get him blacklisted from all work for the rest of his life. I know that a lot of competitive players were hoping for a blessable Freyr sometime soon to counteract the recent blessable Embla, so I thought it prudent to share.

Similar situations revolving Tatsuhisa Suzuki (Alfonse, Berkut, Bramimond (as Alfonse), Ranulf, Tibarn) and Takahiro Sakurai (Eliwood, Bramimond (as Eliwood), Julis, Lukas) also resulted in these characters getting no alts/voiced content (mostly relevant for Alfonse story cutscenes) after their situations came to light - for all of the above characters, only Young Eliwood was released, with him being voiced by a new actress, Asami Yaguchi.

Statement (in Japanese) from Furuya can be found here

That poor woman and baby :/.
That poor woman is a 37 years old adult who got into relationship with 30 years older, married guy.
Furuya is at this point a grandpa, basically.

At that age, she should have known better; same for abortion; if my sisters, who are younger than her, were in her position, they would be ready to kill anyone in this situation.
