Man, imagine how angry everyone who already bought all of the first releases are gonna feel if the better versions get released by Viz so soon.
Glad to hear Madman does still have the rights, as does Kaze in Germany, and now seemingly Viz. I’m all for a re release if they do indeed have the good masters now. I really wish the license was more stable in general..Then I wouldn’t feel like I always have to jump on a release in fear that it’ll be revoked again.
Its not just since 2004’s hiatus that I’ve felt this. Even when ADV announced their box sets, it was clear it was a rushed out job. Airing Classic on Cartoon Network in 2002 was also quickly pulled (for Hamtaro..). The Doom Tree Buena Vista vhs release was especially hard to find in the US at the time- I had to order it from Canada!
Since the 2004 license pull, it’s been in the back of my mind ever since the show has been out for license again. The Towers dvd releases being halted, the Madman snafu with Stars, France putting out the Classic dvds and saying they would only release the other seasons if that one sold well (with incomplète French dub masters on top of it!!) It just feels that the license is so fickle nowadays.
