What are the best series to cross over Sailor Moon with?

Sailor Moon and Hunter X Hunter would be a terrible fit for each other but I just secretly want to see it. Like could the senshi pass the hunters examination? As a group they could do anything but they would have to carry Usagi through the entire examination and they would all be good at different points if they played Greed Island. They are so moral though they wouldn't be able to deal with the senseless death in that world.

Actually I take that back! I think Madoka is the only Mahou Shojo that can sucessfully cross over with Sailor Moon. I mean think about it, what if Luna and Artemis where part of Kyuubey's race and the whole Moon Kingdom, Crystal Tokyo thing was just an illusion created by them to trick the girls into "contracting." And then, what if all those "objects" the enemies stole such as Pure hearts, and Star seeds were really grief seeds? It could actually work!

I am sorry but that would not work at all. Luna and Artemis are clearly not of Kyubey's race and are benevolent guides and the Moon Kingdom and Crystal Tokyo are definitely not illusions. Really making it that would be a slap in the face of the series and it's characters.

Not saying a Sailor Moon and Madoka crossover can't work but definitely not like this.

However me personally I have done some crossovers in my Sailor Moon fanfiction. I have crossed Sailor Moon over with Inuyasha, the video game series Shadow Hearts, Samurai Warriors and by extension my own version of the Orochi series and will probably do more.

There's much more where that came from - Obviously these two Franchises frequently get paired with each other.

Seeing all these more or less elaborate FFs eventually gives me some more courage to finally write down my own.

However, I think there was a sign limitation in the forum? What's the minimum waiting time to legally answer to one's own posts (for putting on the next chapter)?

I'm close to wrapping up an X-Men crossover. It was an idea that was stuck in my head for years. First off, look at how X-Men started. Five teenagers come out of nowhere and save the day from a threat no one saw coming. Then there are the Sailor Moon's themes of fighting for love and justice, and never giving up hope and choosing to believe the best in people. This nicely mirrors the X-Men's philosophy and their clashes with those with a darker outlook such as Magneto.

Speaking of which, this commission was just completed for me the other day!

Of course, it's hard to reconcile all the time travel stuff. Between Cable and Rachel Summers and Bishop and Shadowcat mentally traveling back into her younger body and the five original X-Men getting pulled forward in time (plus some stuff I'm no doubt forgetting), Sailor Pluto must want to SHOOT HERSELF whenever she hears 'X-Men'!

The problem with crossing over Sailor Moon with most series is three-fold.

1. Sailor Moon takes place in the "real" world in the relative present (or early 90's), which makes crossovers with a lot of properties difficult.
2. Sailor Moon has a loosely defined set of magical rules, those that are incompatible with many magical franchises.
3. Sailor Moon, unlike most franchises, has a lot of continuities in which one isn't given canonical importance or preference.

Consequently, while there are a lot of universes which while I like crossing over with Sailor Moon, really don't fit.

At the same time, there is one series, that while I don't personally cross over with Sailor Moon, is one that is perfect for it.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Here's why.

1. Sailor Moon is a Japanese series that bases its aesthetics and plot points on Western concepts, but is at heart a fundamentally Japanese series. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a Western metaseries that bases much of its visual and plot choices based on Japanese culture (filtered through an American comic book lens)...but is at heart, a very Western series. Thematically, they complement each other very much.
2. Sailor Moon is aimed at girls, while Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is aimed at boys. Consequently, the two balance each other out from a gender dynamic.
3. The Sailor Guardians are primarily magical fighters with little physical power. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are melee fighters with little magical ability in normal circumstances.
4. Both series have lots of easily abused mooks for the characters to show their might.
5. Because there are different popular incarnations of Sailor Moon and TMNT, one could fuse together different combinations of each.
6. Maybe each group could learn a little from the other....even if it only mean Usagi would discover a love for pizza.

Another series I feel would cross over well with Sailor Moon is Mega Man X. I know this violates the first rule I set above, but thematically, the two series are even a better fit than TMNT and Sailor Moon. In Mega Man X, you have reploids, mechanical beings with free will, some who fight to protect humanity and society and some who fight against it. However, humans themselves are largely absent as characters involved in this conflict, which sidesteps the question of reploid superiority. It also doesn't help that many of the "bad" reploids, Mavericks, are forced into evil, which muddles the issues further. On the other hand, with Sailor Moon, you have biological beings who are capable of feats that are superhuman and unlike reploids can't be forcibly converted. Between this and the healing powers of the Silver Crystal (would it even work?), this opens up the discussion of the proxy war that is being fought with humans as bystanders. Plus, with a periodic group of eight champions with elemental powers of their own, there's an easy pairing off here. Then again, even variations on Mega Man Classic play well off Sailor Moon.

There are lots of series I think would work best Sailor Moon AU fusions, but those aren't quite crossovers, but a blending together of two universes by merging character concepts.

Exactly. And considering how durable the youma are, I can safely say that any of the Sailor Senshi has far more physical power than all the Ninja Turtles put together.

Because in those situations is far better hitting from distance. That, and she actually has a poor track record, contrary to a certain someone else who somehow doesn't have a fame as a brawler in spite of being demonstrably far better...

I also gotta question the notion that the Senshi aren't big on 'physical power' when they're shown having some insane durability, surviving and getting back up after taking abuse that would put normal girls in the hospital for weeks, or six feet under permanently. In fact, Jupiter, Uranus and Tuxedo Kamen probably have both strength and fighting ability comparable with any one of the Turtles (with Venus not far behind), unless we're talking about the ridiculously strong Turtles from the recent films.

As for 'easily abused mooks', it depends on version to version. Are we thinking Rocksteady and Bebop? The IDW Rock and Beebs are of the drop-a-building-on-them-and-they'll-walk-away level of toughness, while the 2012 versions are (for perhaps the first time) skilled fighters, somewhat competent, and reasonably intelligent. 2012 Bebop, in particular, I can see eluding the Senshi with his dance fighting style as they struggle to avoid all those lasers.

I hear ya on how both series have SO many iterations. Here, I think Turtles and Sailor Moon are a lot alike. Starts off as a breakout comic, then an animated series that tones down the darkness and ups the humor, then a live-action thing, and still going. I had hoped Crystal would be the equivalent of Turtles 2003 but... it didn't turn out that way from what I've heard.
