I always wondered just how different Sailor Moon would be if she were a solo hero. I imagine she would mature a lot more, a lot quicker. The show itself would be...well, would it be anything close to what it is today? I can't see it having got more than one season, personally. Maybe popular still but I feel that with just Usagi, it would be harder to justify more seasons.

Well, that's kinda what Sailor V is. And that's probably the reason why it never got adapted for TV: a Minako/Usagi solo show would not be appealing enough IMO (specially with their manga personalities).
A bigger cast helps attract a wider audience, as kids have more characters to relate to.

Good points. Maybe that´s is reason why him put these Ninja teams at Naruto ... who knows.

We get a small taste of this in the early episodes of the anime and once and while I think Usagi could carry the story on her own it just wouldn't be as interesting in my opinion as the team dynamic is. I mean the thing about it that would be most appealing to me would be seeing Usagi be more self reliant rather than relying on the team to carry the burden but it would be sad to not see that really awesome female friendship.

I actually really liked the solo Usagi episodes! They definitely have a different feel to them and even though the other senshi and team dynamic of the show was essential to it's success I still would have preferred a few more solo Usagi episodes. Filler or not I really enjoyed these episodes a lot.

Does this hypothetical also exclude Tuxedo Mask as an ally to Sailor Moon along with all the other Sailor Senshi? If it does, then that would greatly affect the series as a whole since, not only would this hypothetical make the series no longer a superhero team series, but would also eliminate the romance genre that it's also a part of. Part of Sailor Moon's creation was not only its being part of the superhero team genre that Super Sentai is a part of, but also its being a romance series. Remove both the remaining female hero teammates and the male hero ally and you end up with a completely different series that is twice as removed from the version we ended up getting.

Moreover, the removal of Tuxedo Mask (and by extension Prince Endymion) also removes (or at least severely alters) the Silver Millennium background and all the present day stuff related to it. Queen Beryl's backstory no longer bases itself in her jealousy of Princess Serenity catching Prince Endymion's affections, thereby altering Beryl's original motives as well. Endymion and Serenity also wouldn't have the same tragic deaths that they had in the real version, meaning Queen Serenity wouldn't be spurred by her grief into using the Silver Crystal to seal away the Dark Kingdom and send all the good guys to reborn in the 20th Century, at least, not in the same way as she was in the real version. And as Tuxedo Mask wouldn't be around to take a lethal blow for Sailor Moon in the present day, her grief for his injuries wouldn't spur her to cry the Silver Crystal out of one of her tears. What's more is that the whole ordeal with Crystal Tokyo wouldn't be the same either, as Chibusa herself would have to be gone too since she becomes another hero teammate, thereby significantly altering the story of the Black Moon clan.

And for all the others to gone, there'd be no Sailor Pluto to aid in the time traveling stuff, no Uranus and Neptune to drive the Death Busters story forward, no Sailor Saturn to befriend and help bring the same resolution to the Death Busters story, and no Sailor Star Lights to help drive the plot of the Shadow Galactica story. In fact, there's be no Sailor Galaxia or any Shadow Galactica Sailor Senshi either since Sailor Moon would be the only Sailor Senshi there is, meaning the very concept of Sailor Senshi wouldn't apply to anyone but her, nullifying the whole "Sailor Senshi from all over the galaxy" concept in and of itself.

In short, putting Sailor Moon by herself as the sole starring hero of the series would have quite the repercussions on the series itself as we know it when we start to think about it more. :wow:

It would be sorta like a watered down version of "Cute Honey" I believe. I actually think the series would be fine with just Moon, Mercury and Mars as the main cast.

However, I think you can erase Tuxedo Kamen and the Sailor Senshi from the story, make Queen B jealous of Usagi's position in the ancient kingdom instead of her man and can still have a healthy story to draw off of.

Of course Naru would be her regular friend sidekick, and Umino the comic relief.

What would be funny is if the Ami, Rei, Makoto and Minako we're just regular civilians or "stock" episode characters that we're attacked on a specific episode. Sailor Moon just had to save them and that's it, they go back to their regular lives.

But a solo Sailor Moon series would be kinda epic if not probably no more than 13 or 26 episodes. If she retained the skill set she had in the manga, she'd be more than capable of fighting the bad guys alone, and her decapitations of the youma would be a nice gruesome dispatch of her foes.

Finishing off Queen Beryl with the Legendary Holy Sword can still be a thing.

The episodes with Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask working together against the enemy as a duo are some of my favorites. I would have loved to see this more often than all that throwing a rose believe in yourself and disappear BS. You know episodes like the Tennis and Figure Skating ones where Tuxedo Mask is an active participant in the battle rather than a quick distraction.

Honestly I think it would be a worse series without the romance and her team mates. I mean this is kind of what Sailor V was and while I like Sailor V it wasn't as ground breaking as Sailor Moon was.
