You're joking, right? Do you honestly find Crystal Season III to be better than S? That's madness!
As mad as claiming that the end of SM R is better than the last two episodes of Crystal Season 2.

I think we got it in your 1567 posts : Crystal is horrible ::love::

I personally see both 90's S and Crystal season 3 compliment each other when compared to the rest.
Same here - someone should redo an anime version of the Infinity arc by combining the best features of S & S3 (of course that'll never be done in reality lol ).

It is better. I'm sorry you have such bad taste you can't realize that. I'll pray for you.
The Death of Pluto, the awaking of Chibi Moon... yeah sure SM R deal with these plots better :):) LOL

Other than season 3, that was more interesting than S and its dragged storyline
I tend to evaluate a season as a whole instead of some of its plot points. Do you mean Crystal S3 imagery is better than S? Its OST is better than S? Its designs? Direction? Characters? I don't remember the Inners doing incredible things in Crystal S3 either. They didn't explore the Outers human lives, with the exception of Hotaru.
Chibiusa & Hotaru friendship is forced just to give the latter a feeling to question her existence. I don't see a real friendship and it can't be forged just in two panels.

Then, although the Outers wanted to kill Hotaru because Saturn was a big threat - actually they didn't want to - but didn't they think about destroying one of their talismans to prevent Saturn's awakening and deal with the Death Busters battle just with 2 talismans? That would've been more interesting than the forced drama

:haruka: "If our three talismans activate, Saturn will be awakened. It will be the end of the world. We've got to kill her with our powerful three talismans".
:ami: "Why don't you destroy one of the talismans? In that case you three wouldn't have to take an innocent human life!"
:haruka: "Nonsense. Because it's MY talisman. I'll choose my weapon over a human life."

It's my opinion, of course.

The Death of Pluto and Chibi Moon awakening is just one plot because Pluto isn't a character. :eyebrows:

However, Sailor Moon R dealt with Chibiusa farewell quite better because the entire cast used to interact with her all the time. I can't believe the tears of the Inners for Chibiusa are real in Crystal. They were kidnapped at the beginning, they didn't know her at all (Even though, magically, at the same moment they're rescued by Sailor Moon they know who Neo Queen Serenity is and Chibiusa being Usagi's daughter.) ::toast:

Chibi Usa is a much more interesting character (and likeable) in the reboot series. Just like the R part with the Black Moon and especially the last two episodes of season 2. The character of Sailor Pluto yeah is totally useless in R. Honnestly I don't even now why they bother even to mention her at all in the old anime. Oh I forgot also the famous "ice metor" in R Plot which was also totally unecessary (and forgotten at the end).

It's my opinion, of course.

From what I understand of the manga she is MUCH better in the manga. Since crystal follows the manga much more closely she is going to be a wayyyyyy better character.

Yes, I find.
It was a manga adaptation that added twists needed for an animation and has a decent final battle, instead of Saturn and Moon entering some black hole. Chibiusa actually did something in battle other than comic relief.

The plot advanced in a way that kept me interested. Even though S had better character development, that was it. After Eudial "forced" the Holy Grail to appear, everything felt like it went nowhere. Suddenly, the Holy Grail wasn't important to the Death Busters anymore and Mimette was trying to extract pure hearts instead of recovering the Grail. Super Sailor Moon, even though she created an magical barrier that reversed Eudial's fire buster against her, just stuck to use her previous attack for the rest of the season... With a different name and pretty much the same choreography.
Then, after Mimette's demise, the other three witches got solo episodes where each one was killed off. Then, things got interesting again around the finale, but the actual ending was pretty overwhelming and the very last episode was nothing but a... tease for SuperS.
In Crystal III, we actually see the Inners and Outers working together, and out of 200 episodes, the only moment we saw that in the old anime was in the mini-arc that opened Stars and in non-canon movies. I like Crystal III better, and I have a very good reason.

I have to agreethat season 3 has better overall plot than S. But artistically S is on a whole different level - the imagery and simbolism is absolutely amazing. But this is not just Crystal, modern art lacks originality and depth, the stories get better, but not the artstyle, the animation techniques, the imagery simbolism, the darkness, the beauty of hand-drawn animation cannot be replaced. The perfect Sailor Moon to me would have been a faithful manga adaptation done in the 90s, when artists cared. Both modern manga and anime as well as Disney filmsare lazy.

Honestly the infinity arc is probably the best sailor moon arc through the three main mediums which are the anime, crystal and the manga. Usually with the rest people have massive issues with one of the three and super s for damn good reason as that was trash.

That’s because in the manga it’s more of a romantic attraction between the two while in the 90’s anime it’s just a friendship.

The only things better in R over the manga were the villains, (except Rubeus for some reason) how the Inners stuck around and didn’t get sidelined, and Usagi’s/Inners relationship development with Chibi-Usa… maybe also the explanation over how Crystal Tokyo got created in the first place. (If you’re the type who can’t handle a hint of ambiguity and need everything spelled out for you, to me it’s rather obvious how CT was established in the manga what with the Silver Crystal’s immortality giving powers) Everything else such as plot, lore, Usagi’s character development , Chibi-Usa and Pluto is better in the manga.

Meanwhile S and Infinity I find pretty much equal - S had the better Outers/character development of the Outers (Except Hotaru who was equal in both) and a more in-depth ethical dilemma (and of course actual Inner screentime) but Saturn’s arc in Infinity was superb, and as per usual of the manga, better lore that actually connected Saturn’s awakening to the fall of the Silver Millenium which was pretty much completely ignored in S for some reason.

Also kudos to Infinity for having what I believe to be the absolute best pacing of the entire manga - though considering the manga’s pacing is so abysmally bad in the first place that’s really not saying much.

I want this too!

Sad, but true. Animation, as a whole relies more on computers than hands.

The majority of it was hand-drawn, though? Just on a computer. There's certainly differences between the two mediums but it's not as though it was computer generated.

I think the Infinity arc is sort of the opposite of S1/2. As a whole, S1/2 manages to produce some really pretty frames that are nice to look at as still images, but just don't work in motion (or simply don't move given the lack of actual animation in 1/2). Infinity, on the other hand, takes a hit in the artstyle but looks absolutely fluid in certain scenes. I swear I think they ramped up the Sailor Moon introduction speech as ridiculously as they did to try and demonstrate right off the bat that this season was going to get more care than the prior ones. There were more unique frames in it than there were in many important scenes in S1, like Beryl strangling everyone. :P

I still remember someone posting adding more frames on :setsuna: for the Blu-ray disc. I think it was Dead Scream or Garnet Orb. I think it didn't require additional frames.

I like both. But I hated how in S Usagi gave the grail to Mistress 9 disguised as Hotaru.

Agreed. The 3rd story arc seems to be the best one on its respective media, & is even worthy for yet another anime remake if it were properly done - one which I'd actually be interested to watch, tho personally I'd prefer a live-action adaptation of it more. :)
