What are you ok with being glossed over or completely cut for the time constraints of a movie format? What do you thing could be altered to make more room for the more important beats of the story?

Everything related to the Stars arc should get cut.

I was specifically talking about the Eternal films, which cover Dream Arc, so Stars has nothing to do with the topic.

This is a hard question because there's so many scenes that I enjoy from the Dead Moon arc and it's unquestionably the best written and tightest arc of the manga, hands down.

However, one thing I have noticed is that the second half of Dead Moon feels a bit rushed and sloppy. There are quite a few scenes that's just Uranus and Venus screaming"PRINCE!" and "PRINCESS!" which definitely needs to be altered because on screen it's going to feel tedious.

I don't have the book in front of me, but all of the fake-out kills were also a bit shoddily done for the sake of creating a dramatic cliffhanger... I feel a lot of the back-half could be simplified and feel a little less chaotic. Thankfully, we have a new writer, so I have faith.

Other scenes I have no issue with being removed:
- Artemis CREEPING on Minako in the shower. NOPE!
- The scene with Mamoru and Chibi!Usagi where they try to get in the mood (?!). Another NOPE. I could also do without Chibi!Usagi kissing Mamoru.
- The Inners going to one of the Dead Moon shows again. Pretty pointless, although I like them taking initiative and the Quartet spying on them.
- The sleepover scene with Usagi, Chibiusa and Mamoru can be simplified a bitsy... It felt a bit long in the manga, and with this being a movie, I'm fine with being trimmed down a bit.
- Chibiusa hypnotizing Ikuko-mama - only out of respect for Ikuko-mama's old VA and this is not quite an important scene.
- Honestly, they could remove all Shitennou scenes and I wouldn't really care! Sorry not sorry. (They'll most likely keep it though.)

I agree on most of your ideas, except the shittenou part. While not at all a fan of the rushed senshixshittenou I like them as characters. I hope they cut the talking props, while it was unique they never did it again and it was just very cheesy and out of place for me. I hope the sleep over at Mamoru is kept but we can trim it a bit like you said. For stuff they should really do is avoid pointless time eaters. Each senshi should transform no more than once and the transformation should be short but dynamic, the way they werein Madoka for example, still cool and beautiful, but a lot can be crammed in 6 minutes and I hatethem being wasted on transformations. They should skip the introduction speech. Usagi introducing herself to a tiger... It wod be so silly... I know they won't but I wish they do and it will save some time. They can also show them performing a dragged out attack sequence once and after that do it faster in real time and in the world, brisc and powerful or just use real time attacks, but animated decently. This would also make the girls some older attacks work better. The second half I am not worried - it is more action oriented and it can be done in like 100 minutes without a problem. I hope they make Mars Mercury and Jupiter dream arcs play simultaniously, by cutting from character to character to avoid repetitivness. And I hope they add just a glimps of Nehellenia in the first film. I still cannot imagine her and Zirconia with the new artstyle. Not that we have any idea how it is going to actually look at all.

Since the Inners are basically flat characters anyway in Crystal, why not just only do a bit of broad strokes on their own characters since the arc's focused mainly on Usagi and Mamoru

Nothing! Nothing! Nothing!

Well... At least they really minded THE PRINCE in stead of focusing only on their PRINCESS.

"Prince!" "Princess!" really should be rewritten as it practically erased the character's personal relationships to an insulting degree. The only character where it felt fitting was Setsuna.
The talking items were pointless and went nowhere
And personally, I wouldn't mind a bit less Mamoru stuff. He's practically the manga/Crystal's narrator with how much screen time and internal monologue he gets.

I do think the Eternal films should be focused on Dream. We have two films, which I think should be just enough to cover Dream, so Stars should have its own set of movies.

Not exactly sure what they should cut (since I pretty much love everything from the arc), but they should run the Outers' story concurrent to the Inners' story. So the first film will cover the intro to the Dead Moon Circus, as well as the Senshi power-ups. The second film should cover all of them together and them battling the Dead Moon Circus.

And totally agree on Mamoru time not being cut from the film. His role is just as (if not more) important as the other Senshi.

Honestly, I'm just really afraid of them cutting Ami's mom and Rei's grandpa... The latter will have less of a sting since Crystal has done that since Season 1 (ugh), but the former feels pretty critical in developing Ami.

Not exactly sure what they should cut (since I pretty much love everything from the arc), but they should run the Outers' story concurrent to the Inners' story.
That's a terrible idea for several reasons:
1- There's not enough room for Part 1 as the first few chapters are pretty dense.
2- The manga slowly builds up anticipation of seeing the Outers again by having the Inners reminisce about them. The first half of the manga basically teases their arrival, culminating in seeing them again in New Soldiers Dream.
3- Toei's gonna want to market Part 2, and the best way to do it is saving the Outers for the second film.

The second half I am not worried - it is more action oriented and it can be done in like 100 minutes without a problem.
My concern is less about them fitting Part 2 under 100 minutes, and more-so that they need to make the story more coherent. The second-half of the manga is a bit of a mess until Super Sailor Moon becomes Eternal.

I hope the new writer do a good job with that. Our favourite Kobayashi opened so many plot holes trying to "fix" stuff that I cringe every time thinking of Crystal attemting to change stuff. :D Ami's mum should be in it, as Ami's whole mini arc revolves around her plus she has to examine Mamoru. Grandpa Hino will most likely be skipped. He has been mentioned in Crystal only once and was otherwise cut from the show.

Mugen and Stars are more guilty of this, but have Usagi scream less (Insert every Senshi) name, we get it and can see it, girls are in trouble, no need to repeat their names five times in a row, thank you very much :)

As far as I remember there was no such scene in the manga, so your wish might come true

They should just cut the inners down to cameo appearances or even remove them completely. Their story arcs would only distract us from the plot and its true star - Sailor Moon! After all, she is the protagonist and only protagonists should be allowed to have any character development and plot relevance as Crystal so accurately showed us in its past seasons.

You know what that means: With Toei's track record, we'll probably end up with that XP

You make some good points, regardless.
