Okay, I finally saw Act 25. I really liked it, but there's one thing that bugs me...
You see, I always figured that the reason why Sailor Moon's hair turned blonde is that she's kinda transforming into the way she used to look in her past life...
But, now we see her as the princess and she has black hair. It's not that I don't like the way she looks, but there's really no point in having her with blonde hair at all...
Does anybody have a theory as to the point of Sailor Moon being blonde, other than looking like the animated form...? It's pretty pointless....

In Japan, the moon's traditional color is yellow as opposed to western tradition of silver, white, or pearl-like. The same goes for the sun which in their tradition is red, nod gold, yellow, or really bright. ^^

From what I'm guessing, her blonde wig is basically a disguise when she's Sailormoon. If she had the blonde hair as Usagi, or the black hair as Sailormoon, it'd be pretty obvious that they're the same. So as much as I wish she had the blonde hair as a princess, it does make sense in a way.

I'm pretty much going to echo Neeko here. Usagi is the reincarnation of Serenity, so it makes sense that Usagi and Serenity look like each other (i.e black hair), and when she henshins into Sailor Moon, it's obviously a disguise. I think what makes it so different and upsetting to some people, is that in the anime, Usagi was blonde all along and so there was no confusion.

Well, in the manga, Queen Serenity, Princess Serenity, Neo Queen Serenity, and Princess Lady Serenity (ChibiUsa) all have the same odango-like hairstyle and silver hair (not ChibiUsa because she is mixed blood). It makes more sense for PGSM Serenity to have odango and blonde/silver hair since it is in their blood (they are not human), has been a traditional style of their royal lineage, and symbolic of both the name of their kingdom (SILVER Millenium) and where their kingdom is located (the MOON).

Actually, in the manga, Sailormoon and Usagi have blonde hair. In the past, Princess Serenity has white hair. Originally when Usagi transformed into Sailormoon, her hair was suppose to turn white. However, Naoko nixed that idea after her boss told her white wasn't a very catchy color for her heroine.

But yeah, I'm bummed to that the hairstyle has been downgraded to a diguise rather than a sign of royalty. I wonder what they'll do with Queen Serenity, if she turns up.

Hmmm....so maybe if they show the senshi in the past, as princesses, maybe they'll have their normal black hair.

I'd say that in this version, Sailor Moon's hair is meant to echo Usagi rather than Serenity's. Especially if they hold true to the previous incarnations with Sailor Moon not existing during the Silver Millenium.

What I think would be neat is if Queen Serenity and (if they get to that point) Neo Queen Serenity have the odango. Like it IS the symbol of the royal house, but only used by the current queen on the throne.

I'm glad you all agree.... Like I said, I wish that the Princess had blonde hair and stuff... Let me make myself a bit more clear, cause I have a better way of explaining my rant:
Usagi in this life is a Japanese human with black hair. Once she's Sailor Moon her hair is blonde... This is because this is what she used to look like. Her true and ultimate self, Princess Serenity, has blonde hair because Sailor Moon is really just an armored up version of the Princess. I'm also dissapointed that she's odango-less. Her dress and stuff is awesome, though.

Perhaps LA!Serenity will pull a Super-Saiyajin; When she uses the full power of the Ginzouishou, her hair will turn blond/silver and have the classic Odango look (hopefully without the cheezy CG effect in her SM transformation).

I know this thread is about her hair.....but we could gripe about her dress too??

Do you guys think they might change her dress? Like I mean in in the anime, they just couldn't....but the dress she has appeared in looks so non-memorable that maybe they could change it up? Like Tux's mask??

I don't mind most of the dress but the torso area is unflattering.
Very much so...Miyuu is not exactly slim and the cutting of that part made her look bulky. The sash around her waist makes it worse by highlighting her waistline.

The original was much better with the dress beginning just below the bust which would cover up any shortcomings from the waist down. And the intricate pattern on the bust makes it really regal.

This PGSM rendition...*sigh*....there are even prom dress that looks much better. It doesn't match Endymion's elaborate costume at all. She looks like his maid in waiting rather than his one true love, a princess from a powerful kingdom.

Yeah I'd say something along that line. To me, that dress just looks fancy, but does not show royalty. Also think it should longer reaching the floor. It looks a little awkward having her feet showing.

OH yea, I was wondering if I was the only person who thought this.

Although I don't like her dress, we have to admit that most of us have a Western bias. If you look at tradition Japanese formal wear, well, you can maybe see some influence in this dress rendition? I know she's supposed to be non-Japanese, from the moon, blah blah, but her costume designer isn't :P A lot of Western-style wedding dresses look really overdone to most Westerners but look really good to people with a view of Western fashion through Japanese lenses. We might need to look at her gown the same way....

Although I can't understand why all the mens' costumes are so gorgeous and they totally shafted the princess when it came to intricacy @_@

That makes sense. But why oh why could they just not of gone by the original dress design and wig? Would it really of been so hard or pricey to do? *wonders how much Usagi's sailor moon wig costs and if it was too expensive to make a princess version* I can't help but feel Naoko-sensei was at least slightly dissapointed by these changes in her designs.
