To be honest, I find Crystal hard to rewatch not because of the quality (although there are arguments to be made on both sides), but because it's virtually identical to the manga. I just find it easier to reread the manga considering I don't have to skip through an opening, ending, transformation sequence, or (MANY) scenes that I generally dislike. It's like I can gloss over seeing the Silver Crystal mentioned the one hundredth time on page because I essentially control the pacing, whereas with Crystal hearing "Maboroshi no Ginzuishou" again and again makes me want to punch a wall.
I agree with you at some points.
It's hard to choose any episode because we already knew it in the manga. I remember looking at the whole set of SMC 1 - 2 and thinking "I have nothing to watch".

Until last year, I used to occasionally rewatch season 3 scenes on Youtube.
But I dropped season 1-2 after like 3 or 2 episodes, and never came back again. Looking at these two seasons is like watching 90's episodes directed by Masahiro Ando. It genuinely bothers my eye.

Which scenes do you consider good? I'm having a hard time coming up with more than a few.

Let's see. I'd say Sailor Saturn's transformation, Hotaru's spirit visiting Chibiusa, Sailor Saturn's battle with Pharaoh 90, Usagi throwing herself into Pharaoh 90, Usagi transforming into Serenity to revive Hotaru...That's pretty much it for me.
Well, I really like the fight vs. Tellu. Could be longer and have some more dialogue, but the overall execution is brilliant for SMC standards

I occasionally rewatch scenes and episodes. Moreso of the first two seasons, but the third has cool moments too. Overall I like Crystal. It is act 12 that I just cannot sit through. It was embarassing. But there were a lot of cool moments ansd small flashes of talent here and there. There are people with skills working on it from the get go, but their work is forgotten as the guys who did bad did really really bad.

I watched Season 3 dubbed for the first time. God who wrote the script? Holly sailor guardians? Michiru calling Uranus a "he"... Outer planet power...

I’ve only rewatched some clips here and there on YouTube, eg for season 1&2, those scenes that were drawn amazingly by that one animation studio (which there weren’t a lot). And S3 the parts of Saturn awakening, other than that, no.

Last night I felt like watching SMC and I randomly chose Act 21. It was the bluray version and the first half of the episode looks good (for SMC) and consistant. It's the Keiko Iwata episode.
The only good thing about that episode is just the drawing. It's boring.

And yet I loved Usagi's monologue and struggle. It is a very mature and a bit dark moment. It was quite beautiful episode in the art department, and although the next episode is way more exciting the striking contrast with Akira Takahashi's take is quite jarring. The dress that looks so detailed in this episodes looks like rubbish, everything goes back to the easy round and cheap route. I will never understand why they neber saved the good artists to key episodes and finales.

The thing that makes me angry is that Akira's episodes are too different from other ones. If they had changed the design of all episodes at once like Season III, I wouldn't have had any complaint. Some people may say Akira's style is good, not very derp to be fixed, but I can't deny that the Tuxedo Smoking Bomber in episode 18 is an embarrasment.

I only noticed today that Crystal s1 and s2 had 2 writers: Yuji Kobayashi and Mutsumi Ito. Ito was responsible for some of my favourite episodes, Act 4 (Masquerade) and Act 5 (Makoto - Sailor Jupiter) and Act 17 (Secret - Sailor Jupiter). I call it good storywriting when a 20 minute episode seems much longer because a lot of stuff happens, without feeling rushed. In the two Jupiter episodes we get, for SMC, unusiually close to Makoto and her personality.

it has more todo with the chapter having more to do, and act 4 had the Team rocket syndrom - we will introduce ourselves and go,though we can fight you (and we are one more to add toit)
