I used to rewatch a lot of S1S2 because of the bluray releases, S3... Uh, I just watched one time (when it was on air) never felt the need to rewatch that season because it looks awful (to me) + they never fixed anything for the home release

I only noticed today that Crystal s1 and s2 had 2 writers: Yuji Kobayashi and Mutsumi Ito. Ito was responsible for some of my favourite episodes, Act 4 (Masquerade) and Act 5 (Makoto - Sailor Jupiter) and Act 17 (Secret - Sailor Jupiter). I call it good storywriting when a 20 minute episode seems much longer because a lot of stuff happens, without feeling rushed. In the two Jupiter episodes we get, for SMC, unusiually close to Makoto and her personality.
Mutsumi Ito?

i watched first few episodes of the first season back in the may. i intended completing it in the stay home period, but couldn't. for whatever reason crystal isn't appealing like 90s original.

but i am still curious about the dream arc. i will watch it just for rei and ami's dreams. they are one of my favorite parts in manga.

I honestly feel like the 90's anime is not worth the rewatch value for me, there's some inconsistentencies in some of the main characters' character arcs. I just can't watch it past the first season. I feel uncomfortable with putting Usagi down because of her weight, etc. I'd say PGSM, the live action series had a much better portrayal of the Inner team's friendship, that's where I feel the 90's anime failed, IMO. Crystal, on the other hand, they felt like friends to me in spite of their friendships not being fleshed as well as PGSM/SeraMyu had been.

Teasing your friend is part of a friendship. Some close friends tease me for being gay. I don't get offended at all, because as I said, they are close to me and I tease them back for other (politically incorrect) stuff. The inners and Luna are close to Usagi, hence why she doesn't get actually hurt by their comments. And that's one of the many reasons the classic anime actually managed to portray relationships between the main characters, a thing that Crystal didn't in the opinion of most fans.
But I agree that fictional characters teasing someone because of weight has aged badly.

I think this is just more of a cultural thing. Also, how often did they mock her for her weight? They usually tease her about being an airhead or not studying.

I just watched the episodes when they were released and that's it. I have rewatched some cool scenes on YouTube tho. I would have watched it again if the series had been released and dubbed in my country.

Is it because season 3's art looked like Precure?

Today, the ending of the BMC arc, I think that the writers indeed like Demande, not only did they change the ending, they also favored him in many of the details.

Not really. It doesn't feels Sailor Moon at all.
If you think S1/S2 art was disproportionate, oh boi, S3 wasn't any better and I hate stock footage, because those are the only scene that doesn't look stiff, any other action scene looks like it needs more in between frames and the choreography looks kinda awkward (for example, that scene were mercury jumps out of the water doesn't look good at all)
I actually kinda look the art style, but just the character's face sheets, they look really good (and I love it tbh), but then I look at the full body ones and eek, I hate how they always have this weird angle stand up thing, they arr never straight.

I’m rewatching season 2 right now and honestly- it’s not as bad as I remember. I think the major let down of season one(which is still awful) after such a long wait made me too mad at the series to be able to enjoy it. watching it unbiased since it’s been a few years has made it a lot more tolerable and even enjoyable.

I had nothing to do tonight, so I watched the first two episodes—I admired the S1 designs, but the animation felt stiff at times and the screenplay felt bland and devoid of emotion.

The 90’s anime is old in comparison to Crystal, but the pacing is great (the characters are not introduced all at once); there is also comedy, romance, mystery, and it’s a much better anime, in my opinion.

It's kinda hard to disagree with this. The 90's does build up to things better but when I watched the comparison video for the ending of Crystal and 90's Dark Kingdom vs Beryl...I never realized just how violent the 90's version was. That chokehold King Endymion had Sailor Moon in while blasting her with a pulse of dark energy was really intense. It was like, he's so evil he would actually cut off her head.
The Crystal version isn't too bad. I do like how they all got fight Queen B in Crystal.

For me season 3 as artstyle really lost the Sailor Moon feel to me as well. Direction-wise it was great, the writing improved a lot as well. But this kind of artstyle didn't have that old school shoujo feel I associate with it, it was generic and a tad bit derpy, but some animation directors managed . The new designs while the girls younger, stil gives me Sailor Moon feeling. Overall, Dark Kingdom final 3 episodes aside, I enjoy Crystal for what it is. The only issue I have with Crystal is the Venus moment being entierly skipped and the senshi x shittenou mess. I still enjoy the rest of it.
