I like season 3 but the style looks rubbery to me..

Anyways, I'm excited and agree with whoever said we should have real time attacks on this movie. I can fondly remember the original SuperS movie having real time attacks. I mean often do we get to see Ami stop an incoming canon ball with a none stock Shine Aqua Illusion. How about a twirling Venus Love Me Chain. Real time attacks made this movie more appealing in some scenes.

Something tells me tho that the new transformations will eat up some time but not by much hopefully. I noticed that Crystal transformations are longer than the Original ones (well except Jupiter. She got shafted)

A few things though ..Can we please let the Senshi get their respective kills in this. I really don't wan them to mess up Rei's part. Also, if it's not too much to ask...Can their attacks like not look the same as they are in the 90s anime. I want something different.

The stock footage of the attacks made sense for the 90s anime to save time and to create this kind of ritual for every episode, like the henshin. In a movie actually it doesn't make much sense anyway because they'll use their attacks probably just once.

I don't remember now if there's a moment where the girls transform at the same time, but if it's the case, it would be nice to have a simultaneous transformations sequence. They can be inspired by the 90s but be something compeltely new.

Like this, but with intersections:

That Pretty Cure transformation was so painful to sit through. Too much posing for me. Anyways, I do agree with them transforming together similar though but without all the extra nonsense. I think most of the fan base would be split..They'd either go crazy or prefer there individual transformations.

The 4 as one transformation is ideal...as Super Sailor Moon and Super Chibi might have one together in a similar fashion.

The real question is...How will they do the Outers for the sequel?

Suite had one one the best transformation sequences, it fits the music and harmony themes perfectly. Usagi and Chibiusa will probably get something similar to it, like the 90's one.

I'm sure they'll give everyone at least one transformation sequence, since it's part of the series' tradition. I just hope Usagi and Chibiusa get their own solo sequences at some point in it.

I wouldn't mind seeing a duo transformation like this for Sailor Moon & Chibi Moon
OK, if it HAS to be a duo transformation, and I bet that is really likely, please bring Sailor Moon to the foreground, instead of being overshadowed by her pink daughter.

Btw: did you guys realize we'll get a double upgrade? First to Super Sailor Moon and by the end she's gonna be Eternal Sailor Moon? So much stuff going on!

Goodness, all that dinging and pinging in their transformations...

Toei is more than likely going to do that type of transformations. The one thing I hate that they did do was the leg clicks to put on the boots. They did the same thing with ChibiUsa and I find that angle awkward looking. Maybe they were trying to attract Pretty Cure fans too with it in Crystal? I like the straight forward type like in the original.

Oh, I just remembered...The Sailor Quartet will be in the movie too. This is gonna be a real big a$$ movie for the show. So much going plus Eternal Sailor Moon...Goodness. Like I'm sitting thinking like...All the Sailors will be together. These two.movies MUST be done right.

Guys, sorry for the off topic, but I just saw the two parter film for Haikara-san.I have read the manga and they covered it all in 2 films 115 minutes each. While some stuff got cut it was surprisingly faithful to the source. So I have more hope for good adaptation in movie format now.
I just watched the two movies. There are many parts that characters just stand there and talk. And they still simplified the character design!
The quality is just equal to a TV series anime. Do we really need to wait for two years for a show like that?
Really... Sailor Moon Crystal, Haikara-san movies... they should have done better than what they could do in the past! After watching these new anime, I really respect who did the series Rose of Versailles (1979) and Brother, Dear Brother... (Oniisama e...) (1991). There were only 3 - 4 key animators and 5 in-between animators each episode!!! And look at the whole team of Sailor Moon Crystal, what have they done!?

I was talking about adaptation, the animation is nothing to marvel at. It is still impressive to cramp a whole manga in 2 movies.

That reflects a continuous decline of production staff quality over the years since then, & staff quantity evidently can't compensate for their quality.

People are continuing to forget that schedule is more important than manpower or budget as usual, I see.
Remember, they had to take 2-3 week breaks inbetween episodes just to make them even slightly presentable. A normal show (including season 3) takes several months for each episode. The first two seasons clearly weren't given that.

Toei posted about Usagi Special Birthday today. But no they didn't give any info on the event and what is going to happen, who will be there. No they simply reminded us that fans are just wallets. So all the things they say is how they are selling some merchandise plastered with two decade old art of Naoko. Of course there is nothing wrong with selling merch, but it is so in your face. With all the delays and underwhelming anime they produced we deserved at least some new merch art. But no, let's take this artwork from the manga and re use it throught the year. The fans are so dumb they won't even realize.

Schedule directly reflects budget - time=money.

Actually, it doesn't.

– Please, give me a cohesive response for the “lol dat BUDGET” meme.
: It comes down to a fairly simple ‘While production values and the scope of a project are limited by a bunch of factors including the production budget, that is not what viewers appreciate; the talent available is the defining factor, and in TV anime the bottleneck that causes things to go wrong is the schedule. Polished anime achieves its results through strong planning, and animation disasters happen when projects are given even less time than usual. Quality beyond that obviously comes down to the individual talent. Throwing lots of money to hire countless animators leads to really bad results.’ What you need isn’t this short paragraph though, it’s something capable of convincing people who still refuse to believe that when anime looks nice it’s not because they spent more money on it. Those are people who still believe that in a world where people like Erukin Kawabata have said KyoAni projects actually cost less than regular anime due to in-house production. They still believe that after One-Punch Man‘s chief animation director Chikashi Kubota explicitly said the show didn’t particularly cost more money, and confronted that exact fan attitude. There’s absolutely no way to convince them, since this has been a belief held for a long time and even supported by critics who didn’t have any idea how things worked. So… don’t worry about them, I suppose.

What I meant is simply that money can buy time, & wasn't referring to buying talents nor other non-human production resources at all. When you have a big-enough budget, you can afford to extend the entire production period to theoretically h/e long you want. Whether that makes economical sense is another thing, of course - if you can't expect the monetary return to cover its cost, there's no point to put more bucks into it to enable a confortably long production schedule, & that's probably why Crystal had a tight schedule, in addition to not getting the best talents in the industry, among other resources. :)

Most TV anime shows with the same amount of episodes are produced with virtually the same budget. What makes the difference is how the studio handles it and how they treat their stuff and how good they are at planning. The reason Kyoto Animation produces visually impressive shows is not because they spend more money on them, they spend more time. They plan well so they don't need to out source. Their animators are not freelancers but in house full time employees and they don't abuse them the way TOEI do as stated by many. Kyoto animation is just an example but the point is they are granted the same or comparable budget as Toei or Gonzo, but the difference in animation is day and night It is actually the opposite - if your schedule is tight more money are spend. You have to hire free lancers, pay overtime and Crystal budget simply run out on all these...

I wouldnt worry about that too much. Toei never was too loud with SM Crystal announcements and its doubtful they have to show much on Usagi's birthday but even if they were to give us a concrete date, artwork or even some very early trailer (overoptimistic, best case scenario) they wouldnt make a big hype beforehand
