Why is the SuperS finale so lame?

All the finales of the 90s anime have something going for them, the first one is literally heartbreaking and a staple in Usagi’s journey, the second one in Chibusa’s journey, the third finale is phenomenal and in my opinion the best and the Stars finale is the conclusion of the show.

The SuperS finale is so lame in comparison, it has very little going for it. The Amazoness Quartet just watch from a distance and we have no idea what happens to them? Almost 10 minutes of Chibiusa falling and Helios saving them in the most mundane way ever? LAME!

The Amazoness Quartet stole the golden crystal from Nehelelia when the Sailors couldn't which is VITAL in her defeat. The citizens and dreams that were frequently dwelled upon during the season also came in handy as they were also VITAL in Nehelenia's defeat.

Also, I think the seasons message was to stop being a short-sighted selfish unempathetic piece of sh*t and remember that we need to care for the people around us as we all live on this Earth. Nehelenia's the antithesis to that. The Dead Moon Circus or a world where people are given shallow values ,undermine humanity and discourage others from growth or straight up take away other people's futures only thinking about them self is a dark dreary place full of jack*sses who do things for their own entertainment.

Also, with how the world is I think that's a pretty important message.

The Sailors can't do this by themselves. We need people all over the world to have a beautiful future. We all need to work together to defeat the symbolic evil that Nehelenia represents:

And lastly in desperate and vulnerable times never give up. Usagi after Nehelenia tries to take the most precious thing in all her world [Chibiusa] She didn't give up and tried her hardest to save her. [copy pasting] Nehelenia choosing selfishness and never growing up while goes into darkness [a dark future]. while Usagi chooses altruism and growth filling the world with light & hope [the solar eclipse going away so the sun could shine through after her brooch activated]. At least that's how I interpreted the ending.

TlDR: I think the season has a relevant message for kids.

If that doesn't really do it for you, you gotta at least admit it's one of the most aesthetically pleasing endings.

Also she fell for 4 minutes [that's still pretty bad but it wasn't 10 minutes]

SuperS was the start of the ratings decline that apparently sealed the fate of the original anime. Each season of the original anime were already being planned before the end of the previous season, so I assume with them seeing viewers jump ship there was less of an emphasis on making a decent finale for SuperS, but pulling all the stops for the start of the Stars anime (and you can see it clearly from the marked differences in quality). That and change in creative team maybe contributed (Ikuhara was probably checked out at this point knowing he was going to move on to a project with more creative control).

I can’t really contribute because SuperS is my favorite season
Even favorite things usually have some flaws. They don't necessarily overweigh positive moments, but they are still there. It's totally fine if you talk about it a bit. I have a feeling there are a few things you didn't quite like. Let the SuperS negativity flow through you. Eventually, you may end up liking it.

I don't think the finale is that bad. I'd rank it close to R's finale, which was just a retread of the first season's finale with less emotional weight.
I still think the first season probably has the best finale, followed by S...which also has issues. It doesn't show the final battle. Two people go into a dark place. We see nothing, hear a bunch of awkward sounds, and then a baby appears. (Is this the best way to explain where babies come from?)

The scene where Usagi faces Nehelennia in the sky is one of my favorites. She's so creepy and also tragic. I liked how in the CWI dub, Usagi/Serena tells her she still pities her before jumping off the rock. (Of course, she had to ruin it with a very odd groan as she fell). Not sure getting one last word in was worth the seconds lost while your child plummets to her death, though.

Well If the SuperS Finale followed the manga instead of the anime's storyline. The episode of the activation of the golden crystal would release the Holy Moon Chalice and Super Sailor Moon would transform into Eternal Sailor Moon and using her tiare to seal Nahalenellia back into her mirror.

Would this be a copy of the chalice that was essentially destroyed at the end of S?

Although they originally wanted for the Eternal Senshi to appear in Neherenia arc or Stars Mid Season prior to the final battle.

You do know that 2 new movies have been made based on the last season and it's more true to its manga version? And I thought it wasn't that bad yes it could have been a bit better but hopefully the movie will do it justice

I don't know why they didn't stick with their original idea of having Usagi become Eternal Sailor Moon
I imagine that scene would look akin to this.
