That's really ridiculous. I can't believe Toei is willing to sell the rights to such an inferior product... Sheesh.

So in few months they will release it in other regions dubbed in all the languages Eternal is available, using this masters, so some countries would be hyper screwed...
It’s a theory.. but.. I don’t know why they didn’t just hold off until they could do that from the start. Especially since we know they already commissioned a French dub for season 3.

Im not gonna lie.. I was instantly turned off when the web version of episode 2 debuted years ago. I kept up with it because it’s Sailor Moon, but for new viewers, I worry that the web version really will turn them off visually. Sad thing is, that episode looks wonderful on the Blu-ray masters. It really is night and day difference (for that episode at least..).

But I don’t get it, (sorry not living in USA so cannot check) did VIZ ever made a Dub version of the web version ? So how can Netflix have a web version of the anime with a dub done for the BR version. I mean I’m sure some animation corrections brings some audio ms synchronization issues then??

do they have a 5.1 version to ? Which audios are available? Japanese only ?

It has Japenese and English, all the corrections are of mostly frames and even if motion is fixed it is still in the same range, so no audio/video disynchronisation could happen. If it was the case it would have affected the original japanese too.

Not necessarily. Since it is a question of drawing a scene, to make a correction. They haven't changed the length of the streak.

Ah ok but when i saw few years ago the French version of Crystal it was definitely somehow “faster” than the original version so I don’t see how they could make the same mistake with other languages.

It has already happened in France, that Toei gives the wrong material: Saint Seiya Soul of Gold, and other licenses.
Here it may be human error above all.
They also sent Netflix and other websites the Special Edition version of One Piece which was a 16:9 cropped upscale.

Toei sent it to Crunchyroll in 2015 (a year after getting the 4:3 version of those episodes) then Netflix last year with FUNimation's dub synced to this master then Pluto TV months later and then Tubi TV back in February.

Bravo Toei :|
Also, thats not the "TV" versión, that's the online one. After the bluray releases and Crystal 3 was announced, they finally had a broadcast on tv but with the home release version.

So, Imma keep watching on Crunchyroll since its the same version, thank god I just re-downloaded the bluray versions to sync with the latino dub
This is completely inexcusable .Though I am glad I have my dvds.

Well, they are at least fixed. And an sd version is still better than the draft unfinished version. Otherwise I agree, so I buy blu rays. But it really depends on the title. Anime done betwee 2001-2009 is watchable only on DVD for example.
Yeah really depends of the native resolution.

Yeah, but the one piece case isnt an error. That was the "HD" japan got for the bluray release, they did the same with DBZ Kai, right?

Crunchyroll has the SD and "special" versions of One Piece lol

Their decision making is so baffling. Who do they think would still buy Crystal on DVD or Blu-Ray in 2021 and why would they think these people who haven’t seen Crystal would actually go and shell out money after seeing some incredibly bad off model animation?

Surely they know that the ONA’s original animation is essentially infamous at this point and that still allowing people to see it is worsening the brand?

Probably because the corrected version is more expensive or in exclusivity to some other platforms. And I personally think, they count of casual new viewers to catch up the series. So not “people” who are usual old fans of sailor moon and saw already Crystal 100 times but people who used to watch the carton as a kid. I really doubt these are the kind of people who are ready to press pause every 2 seconds and open a website to complain about a 0,5 sec. bad drawings… that’s is usually a job for a old fan of a classic stuff (sailor moon among others; but it’s happening so often Star Wars, Star Treck, Dragon Ball, St Seiya … basically in every series which is remake / remade 20 years laters…)…. I don’t think the goal is also to target anime fan but really grown up kid who watched the series as a DIC “carton” years ago. Crystal is a perfect series to binge… I wish Netflix was that popular when Crystal was “create” I guess it would have been something totally different “success speaking”.

…+ they are certainly not waiting than people buy DVD or BR after watching it on Netflix… who does that anyway anymore excepted fans like us… around me I’m the only persons still buying BR… you just have to go in Europe in stores to see how small are now the space for DVD or BR…

Anyway maybe I’m totally wrong… but it’s pretty clear for me than Netflix wants to test the market to “invest” in a last season maybe?

It is especially unwatchable for new casual fans. Even we as fans barely survived desperately watching it because it is our Sailor Moon.
