Let's imagine for a second it is possible to happen? What would you like them to change, alter or expand? Who would you like to pen it? Maybe soe guys that are talanted enough could post a fan art of that.

I personally vote for Arina Tanemura, as she did some lovely scetches of the senshi. Of course some might like a more faihtful take on the artstyle.

I am sure these have their fans, but they are neither manga nor a goodlooking product. They were obviously done by not so good artists. They remind me of the Viz dvd covers - basically looking like cheap fanart. Actual manga adaptation would be a whole different story. These are good for one thing - practice reading kana.

They’re... comics, so they are manga. And they’re based off the anime, so they are an adaptation. Anyway...

I remember that in the 90s the Sailor Moon manga was published in North America in a magazine called “Smile.” I have no idea how the magazine acquired the rights to publish the manga. It was a magazine with a lot of content—in addition to publishing Naoko’s work, it offered dating and fashion advice for girls  and I think it talked about pop music and the Backstreet Boys. P-:

I think the magazine was blending American and Japanese content to make manga mainstream in North America.

Wait I was thinking about the picture books the whole time. Now I released it is the animanga you are talking about. I had few issues in German somewhere at my parents house. Still they used screen caps of the show, so it is not the same...

No... not that. There were all color comics done for the magazine “Tanoshii Youchien”, which were visually close to the style of the picture books.

While I personally would love to see Sailor Moon adapted to an American comic format, adapting the old anime as is, at least as a manga, poses a giant problem. Even if one were to strip down the stories to the "necessary" episodes, the fact remains that if we use an episode to chapter ratio, a manga based on the old anime would be considerably longer than the original manga. To do a proper manga and maintain interest would mean that this would have to be a weekly release in order to make any significant headway. Weekly series tend to lead to burnout and such a project is doomed.

The only way to do this is to have multiple teams of artists, each with their own take on Sailor Moon. After all, even the old anime had its distinctive animation directors, and Sailor Moon wasn't consistent from episode to episode. I don't have an idea of one specific artist, though.

I've written at length as to what I want in a reboot, so I'll keep what I'd like short:
  • Take a page from PGSM and give Sailor Moon her Moon Stick from the beginning.
  • Increase connections between the different villain groups.
  • Expand the Silver Millennium.
  • Allow the Season 1 characters and other one-shot characters appear in different chapters among the different arcs.
  • For the reformed villains, allow them to stick around and help out instead of disappearing.

if i had a lot of free time i may do it. xd
but i'd copy naoko's style since i can't draw well on my own. i'm pretty good at imitating stuff.

not changing a single thing in 90s anime and adapting it to manga is really hard and wouldn't be possible. but i'd like to see it anyway.

I can't draw, I can't edit, and I can't write, but I wish something like this would happen. (Screencap source)

If I had the skills, I would have much better layout and actually redraw this scene so there would be a large splash panel at the bottom would show Zoisite getting hit by the flying glove, with reaction panels from Sailor Moon and others around it.

There are so many graphic design and comic apps.

You can get an image from the anime, change it, create your own comic.
