I'm been thinking about making a crossover fic between the 90's anime and the manga, problem is the girls in the manga are too powerful for me to use for a more serious fic. (I don't want to nerf them)
I also think they’re just way too similar to each other that there just wouldn’t be much of a point.

Honestly, if you’re gonna cross over different canons it almost makes more sense to do either the ‘90s anime or manga crossed over with Toon Makers Sailor Moon. The characters and premise are different enough. Plus with Toon Makers never happening there’s a lot more freedom with what you can do.

I think a 90s anime/manga crossover would only really work if it were humorous and meta, and Toei/Naoko were the villains. (Like you'd have the manga!Ayakashi Sisters furious about their getting killed off while their anime counterparts got to live, and Mnemosyne and Lethe angry they weren't in the anime, and anime!Saturn irritated at how sidelined she was compared to manga!Saturn, etc.)

I disagree about that as there are enough differences between the two groups of characters.

Ami in the manga is somewhat aromatic and antisocial, but her anime counterpart social and open to romance in one episode she confesses to Shingo, who has a crush on her, an interest in marriage and children. Has a few friends outside of the Guardians, Ryo, Kunitachi the park's caretaker, from episode 15, and Natsumi the widow who Ami help fixed up her car. Anime!Ami is also Not So Above It All as tv tropes would say and is a bit pervert (the scene where, when they see Seiya wearing only a towel, and Chibi-Chibi is pulling on the towel trying to take it off she can be seen peeking through her hands.:P

Minako in the anime never ended up killing up her love interest and as such she doesn't believe she's cursed to never find love also she's is just as ditzy as Usagi if not more so.

Mamoru in the anime doesn't have his manga counterpart inferiority complex and has long since accepted he will never regain the memories of his parents ever again.

Chibiusa is not 900 years olds, had parents that were not neglectful towards her, and had a MUCH happier childhood.

Makoto in the anime is a better fighter... and strongly implied to BI.:D

And do I need to say anything about the differences between Rei Hino in the 90's anime and the manga.

That sounds like a very entertaining idea.:P

I mean these are all very superficial differences that while might be amusing for a chapter, would become tedious very soon unless you played it as a total spoof like @MementoNepenthe. Like, of course, Manga!Rei would probably react to how different Anime!Rei is but once the novelty of those specific differences fade, what kind of story do you plan on telling? Are they that inherently different that they wouldn't be able to work together or that they would instantly become enemies?

Like you also have to think of it in the confines of the story, especially as you mentioned it being serious. Why would Manga!Minako bring up something traumatic like killing her own lovers to Anime!Minako? How would these differences come up naturally in the story and not just characters dumping exposition to show how different they are between canon(s).

Now there is probably an avenue in a crossover where you can examine how the Sailor Guardians in the manga or more willing to kill their enemies than their '90s counterparts and present that as a potential conflict. But then you'd have to take care of it not being a repeat of the Inners vs. Outers conflict and address the fact that Usagi in the manga is nowhere near the kind of extremist as Haruka, and that she'd still probably want to work with her '90s anime counterpart. Crossovers are fun, but a serious one that doesn't border on parody is hard to pull off unless you sit through and think logically how these characters would naturally interact with each other.

My profile pic kinda suggests the discarded fanfiction idea thing I had, was planning to do a fan web comic parody thing with tokusatsu style fight scenes (sans the mecha) but abandoned the idea because it's good/better to come up with original characters (not two copyrighted things combined into one), which I have come up with that were inspired by Sailor Moon, Wedding Peach, Precure, and other magical girl stuff but does touch upon a topic that probably isn't allowed discussion here (religion, a topic not everyone agrees upon).

I am working on the editing of my short fanfic of Demande/Michiru, too bad I could not translate it to English.

Throughout the making, I do feel them have some similarity, like willing to go the bloody way for their ppl.

I had an AU idea that center around Professor Tomoe, Kaolinite, and The Witches 5 as scientists (there not evil here) who travel the multiverse in attempt to find the origin/figure out what magic "actually" is with with Hotaru as the little kid as the little kid tagging along

They go to a lot of magical worlds: Naruto, Sailor Moon 90's and Crystal, Magical Girls Spec-Ops Asuka, Supernatural(TV) ,YU-GI-OH! and among many others... and yes Professor Tomoe and the rest of the Witches 5 are just bizarre here as they were in the 90's anime.:P

And also Sasuke Uchina is used as a repeat character due to his own travels.

Yeah, you could expand on their Witches Five's rivalry.

Writing is really tired, but it would be interesting to see Haruka have some slight romance with a guy while attracting his romance interest.

So I have this What-If idea in where instead of Cassandra Cain become Batgirl

she become Sailor Saturn
and join the Sailor Scouts in season 1 It would be interesting to see Cass interactions with the rest of the team given that well... the Sailor Scouts while they are friends who are really to die for one another, they are very realistic of how they acted for their age and Teenage girls act shallow sometimes.

While I didn't write this snippet it capture the idea pretty good.

Ikuko Tsukino has quickly come to accept that her other was an odd child. She wasn’t the brightestthough her friendship with Amy had shown a steady improvement in that department. She was a bit spoiled, despite her age she would always fight her little brother and cousin for sweets. And she was too secretive for her own good. Though that was probably just her being a teenager.

But one thing Ikuko was never worried about was her heart.

So when her daughter came to her with a silent, biracial Chinese runaway who had nowhere to go. Ikuko couldn’t say she was surprised.

“Mom, this is Cass,” said Serena, giving her the same puppy dog expression she would use to get a extra piece of cake. “Can she stay with us?”

Ikuko glanced at the clearly underweight child in front of her who refused to meet her eye.

“She can stay-“ her daughter interrupted her with a squeal of joy. “For the night,” she added. “And you have to help me with dinner.”

Her daughter practically jumped out of her seat and dragged the surprised girl upstairs giggling. “Come on Cass.”

And also given the fact that this fic would be set in 90's Japan and Cassandra is half-White half-CHINESE she going to be facing some... Intolerance and bigotry (nothing she can't handle) but it's going to be present.:(

That would be interesting.

One thing to note is while racism and bigotry do exist in Japan, keep in mind that it isn't displayed in the same way as it is outside Japan. There's nothing wrong with exploring the themes, but do keep in mind that it wouldn't be the same as it would be abroad.

Any other interesting villain/senshi shipping concept? After Michiru/Demande I couldn't think of any.

A few original concept could be ok but I don't want to make original characters.

My original concept of the fanfic:

Princess Serenity was not the only child of the queen, there was another princess. She was young and bitter for not being mother's favorite and the heir.

A prince from another planet was arranged to meet her for their alliance with the Moon Kingdom. She fell in love with her but the prideful and rebellious prince found her a bit too whiny. He fell in love with the senshi Neptune because of her intelligence and what they got in common. This had caused the princess' fury, she told his father and they were forced to leave the kingdom. He still tried to help his kingdom but didn't want to abandon his love.

Neptune and the prince came back to save the Moon Kingdom when they heard the invasion. But the princess' jealousy accidently caused the prince's death, she ended her own life due to regret. Neptune chose to die in the war as well.

This also caused Michiru not trusting the Moon Kingdom at first.

Then there is a present part about the prince's reincarnation as a writer deeply fell in love with Michiru because she saved and helped him in his worst time. They got much in common but there is already Haruka in between. He also had uncontrollable power inside, in the end the writer died for Michiru.

But I don't want to offend Haruka fans and original characters are hard to handle, so it was abandoned.

I did had an idea for a Sailor Moon fanfiction story, but I had no idea on how I would write it though. I used to write a few anime and manga fanfictions back in high school, but I stopped writing them as I got older.
