Problem is the composer is the same as for Precure. He's just lazy and thinks that Precure rhythm and melodies could match Sailor Moon but no.
He hasn't been involved with Precure in almost 10 years but he's definitely lazy.

... Maybe it's because my sister is an animator and I know the types of hours she works, but I'm having a hard time not getting angry whenever I see the word lazy in this thread XD

I need to not take it personally lol it's not like she's working on Sailor Moon so it's not an attack on her.
A lot of people need to understand bad scheduling is probably the biggest reason productions can end up looking bad.

I don't know much about the industry or how the production of anime goes, but even I know that you can't throw more money at an animator and expect them to crap out gold.

I had to block users like SailorTortilla from Twitter because my timeline kept getting clogged up with her trash takes; blaming the production crew, ignoring when people try to remind her that different projects have different people working on them and that Toei isn't a single person, acts like Eternal has literally been in production for four years straight, and pretty much throwing fits and demanding more frames whenever a subpar episode of One Piece (a nearly 1000 episode show that's been airing continuously for 20 years) or Crystal airs because otherwise the staff is lazy and just wants fans' money.

In an industry where directors and animators can go for days without sleep and are constantly getting sick from overworking (it's even worse if you're the latter, animators have been known to end up killing themselves), all while being so underpaid you can't possibly support a family, I just can't be bothered to listen to those kinds of takes anymore.

My bad. I was talking about Mercury Aqua Rhapsody for Eternal. ^_^'

I am still curious if they'll use their old attacks as well much like how the SuperS movie both use real time and attack footages. I hope they'll use Snow Shine Illusion again just so Mercury can use her kage bunshin. If there's another move I'd like to see animated properly it would be Rolling Heart Vibration. Don't care if its copy paste or not from the arcade game. S2 Crystal Rolling Heart Vibration didn't looked awesome despite it being the better than S1 in general in terms of animation.
I liked the Rhapsody in the 90's, I always think the water harp was cool (and holy cow, that was a ninja trick Mercury did in Season 2 at one point?).

It's not as dynamic as the Eternal version and it definitely looks better. And that's only showing a part of it. 90's she just hovers in the air while playing it.

Also it's essentially the same water spell. Would've have been nice if it had musical notes animated with the water kind of like Melodia's attack in Silverhawks. At this point in SuperS all the girls brand spanking new spells are just placebos. XD

Sadly it failed against Berthier. ^_^' Also :ami: forgot to fly.

I saw it. I'll be rather blunt and say that it looks stiff not very creative. However, I still think it's too early to judge it completely as tons of projects have changed before their release. The transformation has to be missing more and it's not the full thing. I take it as a good and bad sign. This would be a bad sign if this was something final because at best, the Sailor Moon's transformation will look better than the others, after all, she is the star, but if even her transformation is choppy, (it reeks of Sailor Neptune and Jupter's choppy animation from S3), I can't be too excited about seeing the others, but it's Sailor Moon so I'll still watch it. I'd like to say that I don't think it's done because the trailer we got with the Inners doing their attacks looked much better than what we got here.

I also am not a fan of the way their suits generate. In the 90's you could see the energy surge but here, it's like strange. I honestly don't think it's finished. I will say that I am a bit more looking out for the plot and what they decide to keep and cut than the animation, though it is still an important part of Sailor Moon too. Im not gonna say that this movie will bomb until it actually bombs with proof that no one wanted to see it and they say it was a financial failure but I think folks will still see it regardless.

Something will become so good if you stop comparing. You couldn't expect there is an upbeat violin song like SM 90's. Why must it be a violin? Why don't you think it's just different, not bad?
I understand what you mean, but then again, the Outers tranaformation was shot by shot redo of the 90s one and they asked people to compareby doing this. They took te transformation that was desogned with something more upbeat and used a lullaby for it. They could have mixed some original movement like they did for the inners. But still the transformations in Season 3 were just as choppy as the new Eternal one, but they were, with the exception of the outers one, not shot for shot, so not as jarring as the new one.

There are good things about the new one though. It can be polished. A few frames here and there, Usagi's hair needs a bit of Iwata's treatment and they definetly need to work a bit on this fringes animation. I don't know if they are going to bother though. I wonder what is the Japanese fanbase response to it.

I'm not surprised. We knew it was going to be a copy of the 90's anime. What surprised me, though, was to see that the animation of the 90 is better and more fluid.
The transformation needs a ton more frames to make it acceptable. I'm saying acceptable, not spectacular. At the end of the video, when they get the tiara and the feathers we get some good key frames and from that point it is nice but all the previous scenes are to be deleted and redone.
The lack of movement of the hair is jarring, the absence of chest when they are spinning and turn their backs, the lack of texture and shape of the compacts on their chests make it look like a tattoo.
I mean, it's too much. I hope they listen to the fans because the reaction has been wild on Twitter.
And another thing that bugs me a lot. If they want to copy everything from the 90, they should have done 2020 versions of the 90's OST.
The music during the transformation is soooooooo dull, bland, flat, lacking of epicness.
Nothing on it says Sailor Moon, it could be the music of any other one-season magical show that nobody remembers after it's ended.
Absolutely awful.
That's what I've been wondering as well...If they want to copy anything from the 90's they should have took note from the varied soundtrack. I had to cut the sound on the music up during the new transformation and I liked a few notes but nothing the song stood out. No Sailor Choir, no dreamy or dynamic synths that made it clear Sailor Moon was going into battle but I'll hold my harsh judgments until I am for certain there is a final product.

LOL. Someone edited it with 90's soundtrack with SFX and it's only been a day.

Wow. Our fandom is probably the fastest responding fandom there is.

However, this wasn't a good idea because it allows me to see how much of the old one it's not. Even though, I suspect it's not finished, it still was a bit of a shoddy presentation for Sailor Moon's b-day.

I wonder though...if this has earned a massive negative response like some say on this forum, Toei must know that there is still a strong demand for this show either way.

How hard would it be for them to take the fluid motions from the 3D versions and transfer them into an animated style because they move so much better in Season 1 & 2.

I was hopimg for something like Cure Melody and Rythm double transformation. No, I do not want Precure style. But it is really great choreography for Chibi Moom and Sailor Moon. Just somwthing similar in feel but shorter. But oh well Eternal is souless 90s now.

They're reading this forum &, hence, know that fans will watch it anyway no matter how bad it's produced, hence such production quality. :quagmire:
honestly, I doubt that they'd check this place and thank god! Naoko would come for Mara's NECK :loltext:
That's my joke, of course, but then the latter part of my post might hold some truth...

While they do not read this forum, I bet they check youtube comments in the official channel and their official twitter. Unfortunately, though, it looks very silent when it comes to comments from Japan. They simply retwitt, saying happy birthday, but nothing about their opinion. I found one Japanese vomment that call them lazy, one that complained Sailor Moon has baby face, and nothing of substance. Fans from USA and Latin America are a lot more vocal, but I assume their complains and claims are simply ignored...

When it comes to SMC 1 - 3, Japanese fans say out loud: The 90's is definitely better! I want to watch the 90's. I want to return to old days. Although SMC is trying their best, I still watch 90's.
And now they shut their mouths up.
And what's more: They (Japanese fans) ask us to be silent because "Having a new SM movie is your happiness".

What I meant is that they believe fans will still watch it anyway w/e the production quality. Making it look more like the 90s anime, as some fans demanded, can also save them much efforts/costs. lol
